Atomic Theory

Learn all you should know about the Atomic Theory, an important topic in chemistry.

Examples:

CuO    +     H2SO4                                                       CuSO4          +         H2O

Zn       +    2HCl                                                          ZnCl2            +         H2

2KClO3                                                                       2KCl              +         3O2

From Dalton’s Atomic Theory, atoms cannot be created nor destroyed. So, the number of atoms of every element on either side of the equation is equal.

Balancing of equations

This is the word used to indicate the equalizing of the number of atoms on both sides of the equation.

2Cu          +          O2                                                    2CuO

2Mg          +         O2                                                    2MgO
