Fortunately, these monsters are not aggressive without being disturbed! They will leave you alone as long as you don’t harm them in any way. So make sure they’re not bothered by you or else a price will be paid!

Are they all dangerous to us?

You might think that all Black Widow Spiders are dangerous? However, surprisingly enough, it is only the female Black Widow Spiders we need to be worried about. Male and young spiders are harmless.

Read your article but couldn’t find part 1 of this unfortunately. But what would have helped is if you included a picture of the spiders.

I too, would have loved to see the visuals of the spiders. It’s well written. Thanks for sharing!

The black widow is not particularly or especially poisonous; but their venom is a neurotoxin for which humans have virtually biological defense against, so their bite is excruciatingly painful as opposed to, say, the sting of a bee which is a protein. Our bodies react to that with counter-defenses and within minutes, the toxin is at least partially nullified and the pain begins to go away.

For a bee sting, rubbing a paste of ‘meat tenderizer’ onto the site of the sting helps. The ‘tenderizer’ is the substance “papain” (derived from papaya fruit) which helps to break-down protein (’the bee toxin.) This of course, is ineffective on black widow bites for the reasons stated.

Some images here would be good. the black widow spider is a scary-looking creature. As for ‘leaving them alone,’ -anyone whom has ever been bitten by one will tell you, ‘leaving them alone’ may not be enough. If they crawl under the sheets in bed with you and you roll over, you will get bit. These people would rather eliminate the risk by reducing the presence of these venomous spiders. -Kill on sight. Of course, for every one they kill there are probably 50 more in their yard that they don’t see but it gives them satisfaction that they have reduced their risk by at least one.
