What to Do If You are Surrounded by Llamas, and Some Information
Llamas and all of their might, how to get away from them about them and some useful information.
A bit about llamas
What’s being ambushed by llamas without knowing their history, eh? Well.. llamas originated (scientists think) in the planes of north America about 40 million years ago. They decided to migrate to south America almost 3million years ago, then by the end of the last ice age (around 8000 BC or BCE) llamas were thought to be extinct in North America. When they decided (for some reason) to count the llamas there turned about to be about 7million of them in south America, in the late 20th century they were over 100,000 llamas in the US and Canada.
What to do if they gather around you
Llamas aren’t aggressive animals and probably wont gather around you, but if you have too much spare time (like me) you should read on just in case you com across the Gremlin version of llamas.
TIP
Llamas can grow to weigh over 200Kg so the last thing you want to do is try and pull or push one over.
The first thing you need to know is why are they following/ ambushing you, first off, food, if you are carrying corn or hay, you either need to put it down. Or throw it a tad bit forward. By the way if you are carrying hay I just want to give you a “?”.
Secondly, you could be near a farm or a flock of sheep. Llamas are widely used as guard animals, they require little training have a fair live expectancy and for many other reasons they are great for guarding sheep. So look around if you see some sheep walk away from them and you’re free.
The final thing that is you may just be worrying. I mean, really, llamas are great animals they are kind and friendly although they are curious they won’t hurt you. to be honest the only reason they may ambush you is that that they are just wondering about looking for someone to meet. The only way you will know they arnt very happy with you is that will spit at you.
Llamas are great animals and are only aggressive towards each other in herds, i hope you don’t fear them and learn to like them a lot. If you are reading the final words and a thinking wow this was pointless, it wasn’t you never know when llama information may come up in conversations or in quizzes.

A few years ago, many farm families in Missouri attempted to cash in on the exotic animal market–the milk/beef industry having become rather uncertain. As a result, llamas are a fairly common sight in southern Missouri. I recall seeing one bouncing toward its family as they arrived home. It looked so happy to see them, I had to laugh!
