Transparent Creatures

Our world has so many things that will just amaze you everyday. Some can be found easily, some are just hard to find. But if you look around you will see that there are so many things that we need to discover. This time, I have discovered that there are creatures of this world that have been created differently from what I normally see in my every day life.

The Glass frogs was first discovered in 1872 by Marcos Jimenez de la Espada in Ecuador but most species of the glass frogs where found in the Central America particularly in Costa Rica and the Panama regions. Glass frogs are from the family of Centrolenidae. These are small frogs and colored green, but their lower body is translucent. They are usually found in the streams and rivers especially during the breeding season.

Barreleye is also known as a spookfish. They are small kinds of fish and odd looking and can be found in a tropical temperature water of the Atlantic, Pacific and the Indian Oceans. They were named barreleye because of the barrel and tubular shape of their eyes. Their eyes were directed upward for them to be able to sense the preys but they can also move their eyes forward.

Glasswing is a brush footed butterfly which is also called espejitos which means little mirrors. These glasswinged butterflies can be found in the Amazon rainforest.

Glass squid or cranch squid comes from the family of Cranchidae. There is about 60 species of glass squid and can be found mid depth of the ocean in any part of the world.

Zebra fish is a tropical fresh water fish and is good for aquariums.

Crocodile ice fish or other known as the white blooded fishes can be found in the waters of Antarctica. There are about 15 species of crocodile ice fish that eats krill, copepods and even other fishes. This fishes does not have any hemoglobin causing their bloods to be transparent.

Phronima is a translucent amphipod of the deep sea. Phronima’s looks a lot like a shrimp and it can only be seen in the deeper part of the ocean.

Salp feed has a gelatin like body that pumps out water to be able to move. They can be seen in the surface of the water in stringy colonies.

Jellyfish can be found in every ocean from the surface even to the very deep of the sea. Some jellyfishes are so transparent that sometimes they are very hard to see. There are also many species of a jellyfish, although they are called jellyfish, they are not actually considered as a fish.
