Top Five Most Poisonous Animals in the World

Countdown of the top five most poisonous animals in the world. It includes the poison dart frog, the box jellyfish, and many others. Along with details about the animal and its poison.

5. At number five, we have the tiny box jellyfish. It is found in the waters of Asia and Australia. This tiny jellyfish is one of the most feared animals in the ocean. It’s tentacles can release fatal venom into the bloodstream and can cause death within minutes of being stung. In addition, the stings from this animal are extremely painful. The box jellyfish has caused at least 5,568 recorded deaths since 1954.

4. Four in the countdown is the cone snail. This snail hunts and stops prey using a tooth that is connected to a poison gland. The tooth is launched out of it’s mouth like a harpoon. The type of poison this snail distributes is neurotoxins. Most of the cone snails in the world are found once again in Australia. The venom of the larger species of cone snails is powerful enough to kill a human being. The amount of human deaths caused by this animal are unknown.

3. Number three is the blue ringed octopus. This animals bite can seem painless but the saliva is infested with neurotoxin poison and can quickly kill a human. Blue ringed octopuses are found in tide pools from Japan to Australia. There is no known antidote for the poison.

2. The second to last in the countdown is the Inland Taipan. Another native of Australia, this snake provides 110 milligrams of poison in one bite. Enough to kill about 100 adult humans. The toxin will cause vomiting and will stop a person’s breathing. The only good thing about this snake is that it is very timid and rarely attacks humans.

1. The number one and final most poisonous animal in the countdown is the Poison Dart Frog. This frog is found in Southern Central America and in South America. They live in humid places. The amount of poison from this animal needed to kill a human is two micrograms, or enough poison to fit on the head of a pin. This frog secretes a toxin through it’s skin that is deadly by touch and taste. That’s why this animal is the most poisonous animal in the world.
