Three Bird Cannot Fly

Most bird can fly but few bird cannot fly. It is because the body is so big and the wing does not well developed. Fortunately, it have long feet so it can run fast so it is not easy to catch the bird.

Ostrich

The biggest bird in the world is Ostrich. It is 100 kg weight and two meters height. I cannot believe this bird can be a ride animal. People can ride ostrich because it is strong enough to lift people. Some country organize ostrich race yearly.The maximum speed of this bird is 70 km/hour.

It can harm to people too. The beak could hit upper head people that cause died. This bird can provide big meat that is why people care it. The meat is more delicious than bull and it more health than beef meat. The white feather is beautiful, some tribe use it for accessories. The skin is also important for fashion industries. Some boutique sell hat, wallet, wrist, bag, and others.

The cock is black color but hen is brown. Its wing and tail are white color. The neck and the shank is very long. The can lay dozen eggs which size is twenty times than common chicken eggs.

The origin of the bird is Africa continental. They live at savanna with other herbivore and predator. Now, Ostrich is also domesticated at North America.

Emu

Emu is the biggest bird in Australia. It is 1.5 meter tall and 90 kg weight. Australian people domesticated this big bird too. This bird is risen for its meat, feather and skin.

The egg is dark green color. It is 700 -900 or ten times than common eggs. People also cook this eggs.

Cassowary

Cassowary is the most beautiful big bird. Its face is blue and red color. The comb is black color and triangular shape like sailing. It is 170 cm tall. The bird is not domesticated as Emu and Ostrich because Cassowary lay five eggs in a clutch. The incubation process is long too. it takes 52 days or twice times than domesticated chicken.This bird is an endangered species under IUCN lists.

Its habitats spread from Papua to Australia. There are three cassowary subspecies i.e Southern Cassowary, Northern Cassowary, And Dwarf Cassowary. Southern cassowary has double wattled , meanwhile the Northern has single wattled. The dwarf is the shortest cassowary.
