The Diamondback Rattler.

The Diamondback rattler is one of the most feared snakes in the west. The Poison is one of many that can and will kill in a matter of hours if bit. One of the worst cases I’ve heard of was back when I was a kid in Clifton Arizona, A guy in his mid 20’s was bit and had medical help with in the 2-3 hour limit. But the poison was just to much for the body to handle and they had to remove his leg.

The bit was just below the knee and spreed at a rapped rate. He survived, but he didn’t realize he was bit by one of the rarest diamondback Rattlers. That Rattler is best known as the Black Tip (Tongue) Diamondback Rattler Which is one of the most poisonous snakes in Arizona. This snake is vary rarely seen.

If bitten by one of any snake in the rattler family seek medical help AS SOON AS possible. I am not an expert, but I have seen a Black Tip rattler (it had to have been only a few moths old) when I was a kid and my babysitter at the time caught and released the snake after consulting one of the wild life rangers on it. They told him it was a good thing he didn’t kill it or he would of spent hard time in a prison.

Even if bitten by the Black tip rattler you MUST NOT KILL IT, it is considered A felony in the state of Arizona. With a Regular rattle snake its a bit different, you can defend your self by killing one only if you are in harms way and can prove it in a court of law. Rattlers will not always let you know if there around and may strike at any given time. They can also live to be 20 or more years.

Rattlers can live on about any thing like Rabbits, toads, small cats and dogs. The rattler has only a few other animals that can kill it. The most common is the Arizona king snake or best known as the Arizona mountain king snake, and then theirs the eagle’s and hawks. There are many others but those are the most common. The Diamondback Rattle snake is also on the top ten western deadly snake list and has been there for years since the poison can spread vary fast depending on heart rate and blood loss. This concludes this first part on Diamondback Rattlers of the Arizona desert.
