Roaring Stripes

The three masters of the tiger world. The Siberian, Bengal and Sumtran tigers.

A tiger’s huge body is built for capturing large prey, through stealth and sudden attack.  With its powerful limbs and a flexible back bone it can quickly chase and catch prey over short distances. Perfectly built for jumping, a single leap can cover 10m (33ft).  The soft pads on their paws help them to creep up quietly on unsuspecting prey. They pounce and attack with razor sharp claws and bite with powerful jaws. Long  fang-like teeth pierce into the victim’s neck, paralizing it.

Let’s start with the Siberian Tiger, also known as the Amur Tiger.  These regal creatures are the largest of the tigers.   Standing on it’s hind legs it would tower over a human.  A formidable force in the nature world, not to be reckoned with.   Sneaky and agile, most animals have no chance of escape once this master has his eys on them.

The Bengal Tiger rules his kingdom of Bangladesh and India.  A symbol of strength and power, and feared by man.  It saunters through the jungle, confident in its unwavering  place at the top of the food chain.  It spies through the leaves scanning the area for its next meal.

The Sumatran Tiger is the smallest of the three, but no less feirce or skilled. This small size fits their surrounding.  They move quickly through the thick jungle undergrowth, gaining the advantage over their would-be dinners.  Webbing between the toes makes for a fast swimmer, and he uses it well.  He chases hoofed animal into the water and then attacks. White spots on the back of their ears called “eye spots” give the illusion of having “eyes in the back of their head” for predators who may try to sneak up from behind.  He may not be as big as the others, but he is the Emperor of his domain.

Each one of these tigers are considered critically endangered, for organizations that are trying to change this go to http://www.forevertigers.com/organizations.htm  or just go online and look up organizations that help tigers.

They are beautiful, amazing creatures and they deserve to live…freely.
