Rats and Rotts

Misunderstandings of these animals.

Why are rats feared so much in today’s society?

Why are they considered nasty, vile creatures?

What makes big dogs such as Rottweilers and Pit Bulls have such a bad reputation?

Rats are generally very clean social animals that love to receive attention. When a rat isn’t eating, sleeping, or playing, it constantly cleans itself, thinking it’s dirty even when the rat is just slightly touched. People see the rats on the streets and in movies and start to believe what they see, when in reality, most of it is fiction. Wild rats do tend to carry disease and tend to be dirty rodents, but domesticated animals are a completely different  story.

Big dogs such as Pit Bulls, Rott Weilers, and German Shepards are also commonly given a bad name. These animals are nothing more than us, they act upon how they were raised, just like how a doctor tells you, when a boy sees his father beating the wife, the little boy picks up on those habbits, when a dog is trained to attack something, it will attack. These animals are now being discriminated against for what the past owners of these breeds have done. It’s time for people to stop animal neglect.

There are so many people out there who have enjoyed, and still do enjoy the company of these animals, I for one am one of them. I have owned 13 different pet rats, two Rott Weilers and a Pit Bull. I would choose these animals over any other species any day.  As I am writing this, my 2 year old Rottie (Slang for Rott Weiler) is staring at me as if he wants me to cuddle with him. He is never aggressive, not even towards the rats we have owned in the past. Our rats were attracted to the saliva in his mouth, and were constantly trying to get into this dog’s mouth, and our dog didn’t do a thing, he shook it off and walked away.

Instead of getting a cat, or a bird, or a lizard, next time you consider purchasing a companion, how about making it one of these two and giving it a shot. Rats make great pets for smaller kids, they do not bite, they can be potty trained, and can also learn their names; they also have no backbone, making them harder for little children to crush. Also, with little kids, rott weilers tend to be awesome watch dogs. If a person they do not know walks into your household without permission, you do not have anything to worry about, they are very protective, especially with children.

After reading this article, I hope you have an understanding of these animals. Descrimination of all species need to stop, wether it be on different races of humans, or different species, discrimination is something that the world would work better without, expecially for rats and rotts.
