Raccoon Dogs
Raccoon dogs are not related to raccoons at all.
Raccoon dogs are in no way related to raccoons, at one point it was thought
they were related to bears.

Raccoon dogs are in fact, a canine which resemble raccoons. They have
gray or brown coats, with a black mask around their eyes. Raccoon dogs
stand nine inches at the shoulder.
Raccoon dogs live in mostly in Asian forests. Some which live in the
Arctic turn white in winter like Arctic foxes do.
Raccoon dogs live in pairs or small family groups. They are omnivores.
Female raccoon dogs have five to twelve pups in a litter.
The only raccoon dogs which live in the United States are at the Omaha Zoo
in Nebraska.
Unlike most canines, raccoon dogs do not bark. They growl, yip and at times
use meowing sounds like a cat. They are very non-aggressive. They will run
to avoid danger.
They have sharp claws which they use to climb trees. They, along with the
Gray Fox, are the only dogs which are able to climb trees.
They have been hunted because of their fur and for meat.
