Philippine Endangered Animals

Nature has its own way of entertaining man and making the latter realize the power of their creator. The Philippines, a country in South East Asia is blessed to have rich natural resources. One of the things that the Philippines can be proud of is their animals.

A lot of rare animals live in this part of the world. Let us get to know five creatures from the Philippines:

  1. Philippine Eagle

    The Philippine Eagle is a rare and large bird. It is a powerful bird. In the Philippines it is known as “Haribon” from “Haring Ibon,” which means “Bird King.”

  2. Philippine Mouse-deer


    The Philippine Mouse-deer is a small musing animal. Contrary to the belief of many people, a mouse deer does not belong on the mouse family but to the deer family. It is commonly found at Palawan, Philippines. It is also known as Pilandok in Filipino.

  3. Tarsier


    Tarsiers are nocturnal primate with large ears. Before tarsiers are found in the different parts of the world, but today it is only found in some regions in south east asia like in Bohol, Philippines.

  4. Dwarf Goby


    The dwarf goby or Pandaka pygmaea is known to be the smallest fish in the world. Adult male dwarf goby can reach up to 1.1 cm, while the females can develop up to 1.5 cm. In the Philippines it is known as bia and tobias.

  5. Bleeding Heart Pigeon


    The Bleeding-heart Pigeon was named thus because of the red dot found at the center of their white chest. It is found on some places in Luzon, Philippines.
