Very few people will not be aware about the fact that Ostrich is the largest bird and can weigh more than 150 kg.
History as well as the research shows that apart from the Ostrich the only other biggest birds were the Elephant Birds of Madagascar as discovered from their fossils but they have now gone extinct and thus Ostrich are the living and the largest birds on earth currently.

Another peculiar thing about Ostrich bird is that it lays largest eggs that weights around 1.5 kg. No other organism from the bird family lays eggs larger than Ostriches.

Ostrich are though flightless birds and their native is in Africa. They feed on plants as well as insects. Ostrich can attach its enemy with the help of its powerful leg kicks.

Ostrich has left much impact in different culture and its use in commercial market is for leather and meat.
In many countries, people race among themselves by riding on Ostriches.

More information would have been nice, Moas where pretty massive too, they were in New Zealand until people killed them off. I think they were bigger than Ostriches.
