Most Bizarre and Amazing Animal Mating Rituals

When it comes to courtship, mankind has nothing on the animal kingdom.

Bower Bird

Bachelor pad decorator

The males decorate area (called bower), with many objects as gifts for the females. The objects can be anything, flowers, feathers, stones, glass, plastics, etc. The male chooses one color objects for his bachelor pad. (ex. all blue things)

Which penis I should use… right or left?

There is nothing special on their mating habits, but believe it, the males have 2 penises in the right and left. They can use both penises, but each earwig has own preference (like right/left-handed person).

Let me be a part of you forever…

The tiny male fuses his body on the female, live forever as a lump on the female body. Whenever, the male can release sperm to fertilize the eggs because he’s already there.

Your urine tastes good

The male nudges the female’s rump to induce urination and take a mouthful of urine. The male tastes the female’s urine first, if it taste good he will follow the female around and mate.

Love dart

Snails are hermaphrodites but do not self-fertilize. They awake from hibernation during spring time. Snail’s genitals are on their necks, right behind their eye-stalks, while they are swaying gently, they touch each other with lips and tentacles. Before mating, they shot nor thrown “love darts”, it’s more like a dagger thing made of calcium. “Love darts” are signs that snails will shoot their sperms and fertilize each other.

Argentine Lake Duck

Lassoing Penis

They are just small birds with length 17 inches from head to tail, but their cork crew-shaped penis can reach 17 inches too, the longest penis among birds. The tip of their penis is brush-shaped, can brush away sperm from previous male. They can even use their penis to lasso the females who’s trying to escape.

Long orgasm

There is nothing special on their mating habits, but they hold the record for longest orgasm among animals. Averagely, their orgasm last for 30 minutes, the record is 90 minutes.

Using hands

They can mate many times a day, and their average time to satisfied is only 12 seconds. They are hypersexual, often hump inanimate objects and even other animals like sea turtles. the males have retractable and prehensile penis, can be used like “hand” to explore things.

Emperor Penguin

Starving for love

Penguins travel to breeding site once a year only in late March. Once there, the males stay in one place, lower their head to their chest to call females. Once they find one another, they would stand breast to breast and start mating. The female return to sea to feed and leaving the males with no foods for two moths. After the females returns, she find her male with her hatched chick.
