Ice Hog: Science Fact or Fiction?
Can a pig that has adapted to the cold of central Canada be able to survive the tundra? The Ice Hog is a mammal that has thick hair which coats its entire body unlike a regular pig which has a dry or thinly coated underbelly.
The most interesting aspect of this winter beast is how it survives the cold. It will make a borough deep into the snow and store all sorts of plant debris from nature to tide it over. Whenever weather allows, it will go out and hunt for small game. Since it needs to conserve energy and also due to its size, it generally hunts the weak and sickly.
Like the wild boar in other parts of North America, the Ice Hog is not afraid to get into confrontations with big game and is also why it is both hunted by and sometimes attacks humans. The sounds it makes mirrors that of the boar but also resembles a type of hollowed scream that frightens most animals away as protection.
But the bigger question, is this Ice Hog science fact or fiction?
