Hide and Seek? Six of the Ultimate Disguises
A look at some of the species that live on our planet and make a very good game out of hide and seek, when it comes to blending in with nature.
There are so many things in this life that we can be looking at, yet not really seeing. In the world of insects there are wonderful species we find and can’t reallysee. They leave you in awe of how well they can disguise themselves. Come with me into a world of “Now you see me, now you don’t”. It is a very fascinating world.
This is the Owl Butterfly. As you can see he can hide very well. He blends in with the wood he’s sitting on and it is easy to see where he got his name. The large eye is used for scaring off predators.

This is a Flatfish which are abundant in our waters that surround our Island. They are very good with camouflage as you can see. It would be very difficult for a predator to find this fish, let alone eat him.

Some crabs can take full advantage of a sandy beach and I’m sure that anyone that visits a beach, fines it very difficult to spot some of these due to their camouflage. Nature is so amazing.

This guy is called a Paradoxophyla Palmata and lives in Madagascar. This frog is brown and yellow which allows him to blend in beautifully in the mud and trees that are in its environment.

This octopuses name says it all. This is an Indonesian Mimic Octopus that has a wonderful ability of not only turning different colors but can also take the same shape. Its true color is brown with spots but as you can see it is very different in this picture.

This Frog that was found in France has taken full advantage of his surroundings by hiding in duckweed. Anyone would be hard pressed to find this amphibian.

This is a few of the collection of the best hide and seeks players in the world. Their camouflage keeps them alive and let them live another day. I found these very interesting although I must admit I had a problem trying to see some of them which shows how well they do what they do.

It is REALLY hard to spot the reptile in the last picture. Is it hidden behind the amphibian?

Nature is protective of some of her creatures at least. Most are not so lucky. Beautiful pics.
