Hide and Seek: Five Amazing Animal Camouflage

Animals that amazingly mask themselves to blend in with the surrounding environment, either for defense or to stalk their pray.

Fox

The Fox is a little more common then the animals everyone is used to seeing on these kinds of lists but its ability to change color based on the seasons makes its perfect for this list.

Cuttlefish

Kind of an unusual one. The Cuttlefish can change texture and color to blend in and defend itself. It looks like an upside down octopus and it actually looks pretty mean.

Leafy Sea Dragon

Very odd looking fellow here. They might look kind of like a seahorse because they are very closely related. The Leafy Sea Dragon resembles a clump of sea weed to a tee. All those times fishing and reeling in the dreaded seaweed could have really been Leafy Sea Dragons.

Mimic Octopus

This is just absolutely amazing. The Mimic Octopus is like an underwater version of a chameleon. They are originally brown and spotted but can turn any color. Not only can they turn colors but they can imitate other animals. In the video the octopus is using its tentacles to imitate the movement of a sea-snake.

Malaysian Orchid Mantis

The Malaysian Orchid Mantis blends perfectly with one of nature’s most delicate flowers. The Orchid.
