Endangered Species
There are species that are under our supervision so they don’t vanish off the face of the planet forever. These animals are under constant attack by humans and their own creator, Mother Earth.
Humans are to blame in nearly all of the cases that result in animals coming under threat of extinction, not only do the animals themselves face a problem but so do the habitats they live in. This could lead to over growth of the forests, other species thriving and taking over another habitat mostly it would be the unwanted kind taking over and flourishing leading to infestation of rats mice etc…
Most of these endangered species are vanishing because of hunters that collect them others hunt and kill them and sell them in the black market to profit from a dying breed. Collectors would pay a small fortune for these animals just to make clothes or rugs or just have them sit in a glass case in their homes or what ever they want to do with them.
Another reason is that humans invade their habitat cutting down trees to facilitate their agricultural needs and to facilitate their housings. In cases like these all around the world the animals get pushed back out of their residence into the predators habitat and the ones that escape the buildings get attacked. You have to look at it from there point of view to understand. Why do you think they are living where they are living, the same reason you are living where you are living, because its safe for you there right. It is the same for humans if we got pushed out by something bigger than us back into the jungle who’s the prey now, we are.
Nature has its own way of balancing things, its when we go messing with them, species get wiped out and its not going to stop until we stop this from happening, people say we need the land we have to grow crops we need to build there because of the scenery is spectacular it will drive up the price of the real estate, we will make more money. It amazes me how much is wrong with the world and no matter what crisis you investigate it all leads to somebody making money somewhere. That is something to think about .
Introduction of foreign species such as insects or the over spill of the reason above can drive other species out of an area. Take red and grey squirrel for example if too many grey squirrels are introduced into a red populated area the grey ones kill the red ones and the grey take over.
Animals That Are Endangered

Polar Bears
These bears live on both the north and south pole and because of the ice melting their habitat is under threat. Polar bears hunt on both land and in the water, they jump from ice berg to ice berg while the are fishing. Pieces of ice break off the edges so the polar bears are not able to get back up onto them. They end up swimming for miles to find a place to get back up onto the main land. In some cases they have been found swimming out to sea and they drown.

Tigers
Tigers live in jungles in the camouflage of the trees, most of the time they are very stealthy and its very unusual that you would see them in the wild while they flourished. In recent years these animals have been hunted to the brink of extinction. Animal activists and organisations had to take some of these out of the wild in order to save their kind. There are more tigers in captivity than there are in the wild due to hunters.

Image via flickr
White Tigers
White Tigers are pretty much the same as above. Only there is one difference there are no more of these in the wild they only exist in Zoo’s and wildlife parks.

Image via flickr
Elephants
Elephants are under threat from humans again, hunters hunt them for their ivory tusks, the hunters usually shoot these animals just for their tusks there is a ban on this now these days but that doesn’t stop the hunters. The hunters take the tusks sometimes their feet and just leave the rest of it to be eaten by what ever finds it.

Rhinos
Rhinos use to roam the African plains in the thousands most predators wouldn’t bother these animals because of their sheer size and power. The Rhinos only enemy was the humans and the hunters chased them to the brink of extinction. These animals are almost invisible against the African plains now. Most of them are in Wildlife parks and Zoo’s around the world.

The Great Ape
The great ape was the biggest of all apes think of a gorilla and double the size and strength of it a massive beast altogether. These went about the jungle floors building nests for themselves they use to eat leaves and branches and vegetation. They would never stay in the same place for a long time to allow the vegetation to grow back as they came through again. The hunters use to track them knowing this and killed them for bush meat to turn over a massive profit from the rich in Africa on the black market.

Toucans
A Toucan is a bird from the Amazon jungle and the Congo basin and Madagascar. It is a beautiful coloured bird with a very large beak, roughly the size of its body. Most of them are black with a yellow beak but they could be found in other colours too. Hunters in the rain forests would capture these birds and sell them around the world on the black market. There are very few of these left in the world.

Sea Turtles
These animals never have it easy in their lives. Hundreds of parent turtles lay their eggs on a beach under the sand and when the eggs hatch, its an every turtle for themselves frenzy along the beach. I know the location of where this happens and I’m not telling you for the simple reason is I don’t want to, you have to find out for your self. They are an endangered species why would I. Predators lay and wait for these baby turtles to hatch they always hatch at midnight on a certain day of the year, and the birds have copped onto this fact along with sea snakes. The birds travel for miles for this event and so do the snakes. They are facing extinction because the news got out that is was the place to be for the feeding.

Panda Bears
Panda bears are more like a teddy bears and are the most placid bear of them all. They are native to China where again hunters are killing them and stuffing them for the really rich who can afford them. It got so out of hand that they nearly wiped them out completely there are none of these left in the wild. Humans keep this species alive in captivity.

Whales
The Blue Whale is the biggest mammal alive it can grow to 97 feet long. The Grey Whale and the Killer Whales and The Humpback Whale are vanishing from our oceans from over fishing of the Japan’s science and marines biology organisation. They say that they are using the whales for scientific purposes, yes that’s fine maybe one or two you might want for that but not 9000 every year like they say they need. Whales are the oldest mammal alive today and humans are killing them off.

Dolphins
Dolphins are being fished and farmed over in Japan and China these are used for food over in that part of the world. I seen a documentary in 2006 where it showed fish nets keeping them enclosed in the bay and a boat going around killing them off one by one. The screams of the dolphins was like something I’ve never heard before. It was like they knew what was happening. Dolphins regulate the number of sharks in an area to prevent our waters be coming shark infested.

The Grey Wolf
The grey wolf is native to North America it is hunted in most places for the simple fact that they attack and kill the humans live stock, such as cattle and sheep. The people that own these animals shoot them on sight. These animals are a protected species now to make sure they don’t go extinct.

The Pika
The Pika is like a gerbil creature but way more cute, they live in rocky, mountainous areas and make the funniest sound you’ve ever heard. They live off plants that grow on the hills during the Spring, Summer and Autumn months. They eat all parts of the plant including the flower they store flowers and stems under rocks for during the winter as the hills snow over. There main predator are eagles that snatch them off the mountain tops. Deforestation is driving these animals else where for other predators to get them.

The Red Headed Woodpecker
The woodpecker is becoming an endangered species because of deforestation in its natural habitat. These birds live in trees in certain parts of the world and certain parts only. Nearly most of these locations are suffering from land expansion, legal and illegal logging and predators. For this reason they have been put on the list.

The Cheetah
The fastest animal on the planet running at a top speed of nearly 60 mph. Not nearly as fast as the hunters bullets which hunt them for their skin to sell on the black market. Native to the Congo Basin where they also sell them as pets to drug dealers and diamond lords. The Cheetah’s cousin the Leopard also faces the same faith along with most of the wild cats in Africa. The Ocelot is another of these wild cats that roam the rainforests that are on the list.

Image via flickr
The Chimpanzee
This is our closest link to the animal kingdom this primate is our nearest cousin. Our DNA differ from that of a Chimpanzee’s by just 1%. When I said earlier that the pika was a cousin to a gerbil we are of same nature to a chimpanzee. Its funny when you hear it like that. These animals have also been hunted to the edge of no return, for bush meat meaning that people use to eat them. Hard to believe, there are nature reserve parks all around Africa for these primates now but there are very little of them left in the wild.

Bald Eagle
The bald eagle is native to the mountainous areas in North America. This animal is going extinct because of lack of food all the wildlife are vanishing due to trees being cut down people stealing their eggs and farmers shooting them for stealing their lambs. There are very little of these left in the wild.

Image via flickr
Koala Bear
Native to Australia a small bear compared to any other bear mentioned above. People are taking these bears out of their natural habitat and trying to make pets out of them. They may be looked after and fed well but there are not in the wild. Koala bears are lazy creatures they only mate when it suits them and in captivity they sometimes don’t even bother because they are not in the wild. Numbers are down in the wild also because of the recent heat lately if its to hot they wont mate. They are a funny breed when it comes to mating.

The Komodo Dragon
Image via flickr
These are the biggest lizard alive they actually have their own Island imagine that. Called Komodo Island in Indonesia they are very dangerous and have attacked people before. They are confined to an Island to them selves we don’t bother them they don’t bother us. That’s a lie because in fact they are being captured and killed for the black market again. There are very little of these huge lizards left in the wild and the ones that are, are being monitored very closely.

Image via flickr
Grizlly Bears
The grizzly bear is also native to North America it roams the forests and woodland of places in Canada too. These bears are being hunted by humans for a game sport they would tell you. Only since they have been put on the endangered species list have sanctions been put on how many they can kill. People give out about bears coming into towns and breaking into houses and eating their food. In fact you’ll find that they have built a road through the woodlands pushing the forest back for a town. The bear can’t understand why it cant go into the town but yet they shoot the bear so it wont come back.

Coral Reefs
The coral reefs are being effected by the warming of the sea which is driven by the melting of the ice. The oceans gulf current is slowing down effecting the beautiful reefs that line tropical islands.
All of these animals are fading away due to hunting, over fishing, forest fires or deforestation, climate change or introduction of a foreign breed in a habitat but all of it is our fault where are we willing to draw the line.

Excellent Article Stephen!
Princess, were you being sarcastic or what? I counted 21 photos here. Maybe they didn’t load in your browser? They are beautiful pictures!

Stephen, The bald eagle has been off of the endangered list since June, 2007, after an amazing comeback over three decades. The last time I was in southern Florida (near the everglades and on the way to KeyWest., I saw them everywhere.

I don’t think any of these will be extinct, endangered maybe.Anyway nice research XO.
