Eight of the Most Venomous Animals
Venomous animals you should look out for.
Box Jellyfish
The box jellyish is an extremely dangerous animal. Residing in the sea, this creature has venom powerful enough to eat away at flesh! Definitely not something you want to come in contact with. These jellyfish live in ocean waters throughout Asia and Australia. The venom can also paralyze the lungs and stop the heart. Pain from this sting will be extreme. Just as a side note, the venom is released by little nematocysts (nee-ma-toe-cists), and that is why the stingers hurt.
Marbled Cone Snail
This slow-moving, small creature is actually very dangerous. This is how the snail injects venom. A proboscis shoots out of its shell. The proboscis contains a tooth that bites the prey. The prey is then filled with venom that can lead to instant paralysis. Humans who have been bitten have experienced weakness, numbness, nasuea, death, and the lungs stop working.
Blue Ringed Octopus
The Blue Ringed Octopus is a sneaky little devil. The bite is painless, but will lead to death. The octopus will bite, and the bite will be seemingly painless. The neurotoxin will immediately start working. Within minutes, a human will experience muscular weakness, numbness, then cessation of breathing (stopping breathing) and ultimately death.
Death Stalker Scorpion
Living in North Africa and the Middle East, this scorpion was named its name for a reason. The stinger of the scorpion is not overly large as some people would think. The toxin is some of the most venomous of all the scorpions in the world. Pain from the sting is intense. A fever is soon present, followed by a coma, convulsions, paralysis and finally death.
Stonefish
The Stonefish lives in the pacific coast of Australia. This fish is properly named as its camouflage looks like a rock. Thirteen spines containing venom are on top of the fish, and it attacks everything that comes by it. When a human comes in contact with the spines, intense pain is felt, followed by a swelling of the flesh, shock, and then death.
Sydney Funnel Web Spider
This is one of the most venomous spiders in the Outback. This spider is large, and aggresive. It also makes the most powerful venom of any spider. The spider is somewhat of a ninja. It hides in a tunnel covered by its own web and then strikes when prey comes by. The spiders venom does not affect most mammals, but oddly enough affects humans. A human can die within fifteen minutes of being bit.
Inland Taipan
The Inland Taipan is a snake. The snake lives in Australia. It is considered THE most venomous snake in the world. One bite is enough to kill about 100 people. The toxin will cease breathing. However, this snake is gentle and shy so bites are few.
Poison Dart Frog
The Poison Dart Frog resides in the rain forest of Central and South America. This brightly colored frog is extremely toxic. The chemical in the skin will sicken and kill anything that eats or touches it. Two milligrams of the toxin can easily kill a human. Look out for this frog.
