Bird Brain: A Compliment?
Can you believe being a birdbrain is being smart?

You may have been called a birdbrain, and you probably took it as an insult, but look at it this way: Bird’s brains can actually brilliant.
Scientists were amazed to find that birds are actually not as stupid as you think. Even the pigeon, one of the most common birds on this planet, has a very unique and brilliant mind. In a group, they can make tough decisions based on what the situation is, just like us. They also have an excellent long term memory that can come in handy the next time they hit a window!
Dora Biro and other researchers decided to test this new idea by tracking ordinary bird groups by GPS systems. When the birds started out, they set out for an intermediate course, but when a decsion had to be made, one bird was made leader and led the group. Journals such as “Current Biology” have also stated that birds in groups find more effective paths to their destination.
In another research, researchers led by Joël Fagot of the Mediterranean Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience tested memories of the pigeon and the baboon. The result of the test was surpirising, because the baboon memorized about 3000 to more than 5000 pictures it was shown, and the pigeon remember about more thatn 1000, which is actually a lot for a tiny animal like that.
