Animals Who Steal

Have you ever taken off your watch or ring while working in the yard only to find it has disappeared? Have you had door mats or clothes from the clothes line mysteriously vanish? If this has happened to you, you may be the victim of animals who steal.

There are many nefarious characters in the animal kingdom.  They are brazen and do not beat around the bush.  They do not sneak or tippy toe and they do not worry about retribution.   Animals will steal under the cover of darkness or boldly pull a daylight robbery without giving it a second thought.

Crows steal from back yards, picnic areas, and even enter open windows of homes and cars when a shiny object catches their eye.  They will take glasses, watches, jewelry, spoons, loose change, and anything else that provokes curiosity.  Sometimes they hide their new found treasures in the crotch of trees, in the branches of evergreens, or they will carry them to the nest for safe keeping.

This sea gull has never been reprimanded for his insubordination in fact customers are willing to foot the bill for this sea gull’s daytime capers.

This fashion conscious monkey would rather look cool than eat peanuts with his friends.

The Ostrich is known for stealing buttons from clothing, hair barrettes, glasses, ribbons, jewelry, and just about anything they can snatch that isn’t securely nailed down.

The fox is a playful critter who loves toys.  He will run off with things like kid’s toys, pet toys, baby bottles, plastic dishes, shoes, gloves, and even the clothes of the line.

Squirrels are amusing and their back yard antics never cease to amaze me.  Their lives are a constant struggle for survival which means they must get what they need by any means possible.

This magpie is living proof that you don’t have to have teeth to have a sweet tooth.

When it comes to fishing the Eagle is a master.

This raccoon was caught in the act but made a clean getaway.  He is still at large.

I once was visiting a lady whose dog stole my glass case. We never found it. I enjoyed your post so much. Good to see your write on my screen, friend.

Good enjoyable read. I have a dog that steals the TV remote and hides it. When I ask where it is, he gives the game away by going to see if it is still where he has hidden it.

    HI Louie,
That is so cute! He is smart to know what you are talking about and he must know if he goes to check it’s hiding place.

Thanks Lucas, I tried but that doesn’t work either. I have asked for Triond’s help but they don’t seem to have an answer either.

Hi Alexa, I’m not sure if I have a favorite. The fox sure isn’t shy at all.

That was a very enjoyable piece. I guess animals are more “human” then we credit them to be!!

Hi Vikram, thank you for your comment. I agree with you, animals are like humans in some ways.

Very amusing! We have a cat who steals. We usually find them eventually, except for a pin cushion. It was even full of pins!

A friend of mine found a chocolate bar outside a closed and screened second storey window. If I remember correctly, she took a photo of a squirrel with the chocolate bar.

My neighbor had a dog that would steal hats. He loved it when people would chase him all around trying to get their hat back.

We used to have racoons that turned over the trash cans and stole garbage. What a mess they made. We finely started putting a huge rock on top of the can. Good to see you back, Darlene.
