Animal Kingdom Guinness World Records: Part Two

Another Animal Kingdom Guinness World Records.

The Most Poisonous

Poison Arrow Frog

The Poison Arrow Frog’s poison is used for self-defence, along with its bright and exotic colors, which mean a “Back off! I’m poisonous!” message for predators. The colors can vary in the whole rainbow. The poison produced by this little thing is so powerful that only two micrograms are enough to kill a human being. A microgram is 0,000001 of a gram, which means the quantity of venom necessary to kill you is almost invisible.

THE FASTEST HEARTBEAT

Hummingbird

Hummingbirds are tiny birds that hunt pollen, and hold several unique features. The Helena’s hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world, measuring 2 ¼ inches (5,71cm). Hummingbirds are capable of the notable and unique feature of flying backwards as well (no other bird can do this). Beyond these amazing features, hummingbirds also have the most frequent heartbeat in the animal kingdom. Averagely, a hummingbird’s heart beats 1200 times per minute, but the smaller ones can reach even more frequent beats: A small, not fully grown hummingbird can reach easily 50 beats per second, whilst the record holder is a baby with 80 beats per second. Beyond this, hummingbirds move their wings nearly 100 times per second, making them look bigger at naked eye.

THE LARGEST EYES

Giant Squid

Giant Squids are the World’s largest invertebrate, reaching 18m (59ft) long, and weighing up to 900kg (1,980lbs). No living specimen has been captured so far, as they live deep in the oceans, far from scientists reach. Because of the dark waters, the giant squid needs good eyes in order to see what’s around it. Its enormous eyes, reaching 50 centimeters (20 inches) of diameter, are roughly the same size as a familiar pizza. In the picture, a 3D montage where a sperm whale attacks a giant squid.

THE BLUE WHALE

You already know the blue whale is the World’s largest animal. However, you certainly don’t know the size of its organs. As it is written in Wikipedia, the credit goes to them:
• Its tongue weighs around 2.7 tonnes
• Its mouth is large enough to hold up to 90 tonnes of food and water.
• Its heart typically weighs 600 kg (1,320 lb) and can reach 900 kg in exceptional cases
• Its aorta is about 23 cm (9 in) in diameter.
• Its penis is about 2.4 m (8 feet) in length.
• It is the largest animal to ever have existed, measuring up to 33 meters (108 feet) and weighing 172 tonnes.

SMALLEST LIVING DOG

Brandy (Chihuahua)

This little dog is more similar to a mouse than other mammal, and is an extreme on how small Chihuahuas can be. From the tip of the tail to its nose, Brandy measures 15,2 centimeters (8 inches), making it the smallest dog alive.
