Bonus Fact

Slime Molds begin life as an amoeba type cell that commonly multiplies once they have eaten. They are made up of half bacteria and half fungus and hunt their food by slithering along the ground like an animal. And I always thought bees led a humdrum workaholic type life, and instead I now discover that they party every day! Very interesting and entertaining article – not sure about the bonus fact though. That’s creepy.

Dee, those bees do seem to have a good time. I always thought of them as industrious, no nonsense little fellows…now we find they are party animals too.

Anne, I always wanted to go to the rain forest in South America. After doing research for this article, I have changed
my mind. Just reading about slime mold is disgusting and I am allergic to many types of mold.

    Cool Facts.

The story about bees is pretty cool. Sunlight bounces off molecules in the sky — that’s what makes the sky blue. The scattered light is polarized in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the Sun. Bees can see that, so they know where the Sun is even if the aren’t looking at it.

Hi Darlene. I enjoyed your article. Did you know that if you sprinkle salt on a snail that it would wiggle around and die? Snails don’t like salt.

I really liked this article, I think it is interesting how the honey bees actually can get drunk off of the orchids. It is also interesting how the ants stretch and yawn like us when they get up. I never realized some insects did some of the things that we do.
