Alpacas are bread for many reasons! And are valued as pedigree animals.

Here are just a few reasons alpacas are bread and what use they are to humans!

People that own alpacas for show case reasons are very picky about the origin or parentage of their alpaca so they sometimes take them to special alpaca farms to selectively breed them with other well known pedigree alpacas to get desired results!

The same also goes for farmers who want their alpacas to produce a good quality fleece!

Alpacas are funny little creatures and are from the same family as the llama and the camel. Alpacas originate from Peru!

Why do people selectively breed alpacas?

First, the farmer/breeder may want to breed a certain type because it has a market value. If a market demand exists for a certain type of alpaca, the farmer needs to keep up to supply the on coming demand with what they want!
