A Trip to The Detroit Zoo
The Detroit Zoo is situated at Woodward and 10 Mile Road in Royal Oak Michigan. It offers 125 acres of naturalistic habitats for many wonderful animals.
Recently I took a trip over to the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak Michigan. It had been years since I visited and I must say I really enjoyed my day. The Detroit Zoo has had many problems in the past and almost closed down, but I am happy to say, it has improved in every way.
The Detroit Zoo sits on 125 acres and offers many exhibits and natural habitat surroundings for the animals. Mind you, there is a lot of walking involved but there is a train going throughout the zoo which is a very pleasant way to see many of the attractions. There are also strollers, wheelchairs and wagons available for rent to make your trek around the zoo a bit easier.
One of my favorite exhibits was the Arctic Ring of Life which features a 70′ long clear tunnel to view the polar bears and seals swimming. Other exhibits include the Penguinarium, The Amphibian Conservation, The Great Apes of Harambee, Australian Outback, A Beautiful Butterfly garden as well as Lions, Tigers, farms animals and much more.
Let’s take a walk through the Detroit Zoo in photos, shall we.
