A Child’s Story: First Update The Story So Far with Credits

This is the first update of your universal Child’s Story written by members of Triond. I have left the instructions that describe how you can add to the story at the top of the article. The updated story and the credits are at the bottom of the page.

I had a thought tonight and when that happens it normally turns into disaster I hope this one does not happen in this instance. It occurred to me that there has nether been a children’s book written by people from around the world. In other words what I am suggesting is one children’s story written not just by one person but by each person adding a couple of lines to it. This should be a first and is a chance to be part of the first worldwide book ever written for children by every culture, religion, nationality or creed. Read on below for further instructions

The instructions are quite simple really I will start the book off with the title and a couple of lines. This will be my only contribution to the story it will be up to you the members of “Triond”
to complete the rest. All you have to do is add on the comments form a continuation of the story. Please remember to keep it clean as your Great, Great Grandchildren may be reading this many years from now.

The only thing you have to remember is to read the last comment before adding your next few lines. Just add one comment at a time give all a chance but there is nothing to stop you coming back the next day and adding another line. Please remember to place at the bottom of your comment what country you are witting from. This will make it easier for me to place in the credit section of the book what countries have contributed to this book.

Once a week I will update the story with all your lines (no-one will be left out) if you leave a line it will be included in the story. I will then republish the story so everyone can see what stage we are at and then you can carry on submitting lines until the story is complete.

If by any chance some publisher should pick up on this I can assure you all will get a share of the profits or we will donate to a charity of your choice.

Now all what is left is for the title and the first few lines of the first worldwide children’s story ever. Remember this is my contribution it is up to the rest of you to tell the rest. Don’t forget to pass the link onto all your friends no matter where they are (Facebook etc) all there lines will be included. Now down to business.

Title:
“The adventures of Jack the Pink Nosed Hippopotamus”

Once upon a time on a very hot day Jack the pink nosed Hippopotamus woke and looked out to the dry lands of the Sahara. Eager to go and play he pressed his soft pink nose up against Gertrude his younger sister and woke her very softly from her dreams and implored her to get up and go out to play. Gertrude who was not really asleep continued to look at her reflection in the rapidly shrinking puddle on the ground before her.
“No Jack,” she responded, clear on her brother’s intentions, “I can’t possibly go out and play today. It’s far too hot and my lovely pink nose is already turning red.” Please Gertrude, we can run so fast we won’t be sunburned you can wear a hat, and I really want to explore the desert I just can’t stay inside another minute. Gertrude relented and put on here flowered pink hat and Jack raced out laughing with glee.
Gertrude and Jack ran as fast as a hippo can and they covered a lot of ground until in the distance they saw an oasis shining in the sun. After awhile they were both feeling tired from playing and the heat of the sun made them thirsty. Suddenly, Jack had an idea.“Let’s go over to that shimmering oasis and have a drink!”*************************************

    Great idea Steve, here goes….

The oasis was tranquil and peaceful, the water was perfectly still as they ran towards the oasis, palm trees were scattered randomly around the water’s edge.

A lone figure was across the other side of the oasis, it was Vicky the vulture. She was quietly perched in one of the palm trees, trying to keep cool from the scorching hot sun.

Chris from Cyprus, (Brit by nature though!). Thank you Steve.
    Best Wishes, Chris.

Gertrude and Jack ran between the palm trees and jumped into the cool water splashing and taking great long drinks. Gertrude’s hat fell off as she reached over to get it she spyed
a vulture sitting in a palm tree she said to “Jack See the bird, I hope its friendly” just then the vulture spoke saying,” Hi I’m Vicky

Although Vicky sounded most friendly, she harbored evil intentions. She knew these two young hippos were very innocent and she wanted to take advantage of them.

I’m in Pennsylvania, USA. Thanks for the fun.

Vicky flew down from the palm tree and perched on Gertrude’s hat.
Vicky exclaimed, “Oh you two must be very hungry! Come with me to my home, and I will prepare a wonderful feast for you!”
