World of Rarities: Bizarre and Beautiful Species Found in Nature

The traits that occur within these species are directly proportional to the gene pools that exist in the ecological balance. The more these species mate and live within these pools; the more of the dominant traits will remain causing an outpouring of these particular species to populate.

Golden Tabby Tigers

I stumbled upon these rare beauties accidentally when I was researching my own Sable wolf. The markings were truly phenomenal, consisting of light golden fur, orange stripes, and very pale legs. The colors are derived from a recessive gene that creates a somewhat strawberry color variation. Their fur tends to be much thicker than normal, and it resembles the same thickness of Bengal tigers. There are only around 30 of these rare tigers still in captivity today.

Blue-Throated Macaw

The most alarming thing that came to mind when I saw these birds on television is that they are severely endangered because of pet trade and land clearing. Blue Throated Macaw’s are found normally in Central Bolivia, dwelling in the palm trees. Typically, they weigh around 27-30 ounces and measure 33 inches long. Their throats are blue, which explains the name, and the blue variation is continuous with their mandible and cheek areas.

The Frilled Shark

The Frilled Shark is an entirely new species of shark found around South Africa. What is exceedingly interesting is that the Frilled Shark was on the books as extinct until it was discovered in Japanese waters in the 19th century.  “On January 21, 2007, a specimen was found alive off the coast of Japan near the Awashima Marine Park in Shizuoka, southwest of Tokyo. “

The Gray Wolf

The Gray Wolf is not exactly a rare breed, however it’s a survivor. Stemming from the Late Pleistocene around 300,000 years ago, genetic testing and research studies have confirmed that the Gray Wolf has a common ancestry with the domestic dog. These exceptional animals are built for speed with their powerful backs and narrow chest, and they can travel at speeds of 40 mph when they are on the hunt.

Barreleye Fish-The Spook Fish

The Barreleye fish is found in the tropical-to-temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Their heads are transparent in nature and their tubular eyes,  which have an uncommonly amount of rods, are generally directed upwards to detect the silhouettes of their prey. Typically, they are found around 400-2500 meters below the surface where they remain solitary.

Golden Silk Orb-Weaver

Source

“The name of the golden silk orb-weavers refers to the color of the spider silk, not the color of the spider itself.” These beautiful creatures are typically found in North America where they are known for spinning spectacular webs.  Fun Fact: The Golden Silk Orb is often called the writing spiders due to occasional zigzag patterns built into their webs.
