Wild Tigers Facing Extinction

Once again, the world population of another majestic wild creature is growing disturbingly smaller and smaller…what can we do?

Sadly, the wild tiger population around the world has been growing smaller and smaller.  Currently, there are as few as about 3,000 tigers living in the wild. This is the lowest number ever reported, and if the population continues depleting at the rate it is now, wild tigers could be completely extinct within 15 years or less. Were you aware that these tigers are so endangered that they actually face the cruel possibility of total extinction?  I was not and found this bit of information rather disturbing.

What I have learned is the illegal tiger trade is still going strong and actually booming with high rewards for delivery of these beautiful animals to poachers and the black market businesses. Many of these so-called  “captive tiger owners” who fall through the bureaucratic loopholes as they are not required to obtain the proper permits or meet the regulatory standards required by other types of owners.

I hate to think of any animal who is subjected to abuse, cruelty and improper living conditions.  Most of the famous zoo’s around the world take great pains to care for their “inmates” and this should be the norm and not the exception!

These majestic animals need protection so they can reproduce and replenish their population. We all need to take responsibility and advocate for the strict implementation and regulation on owners of tigers to ensure their safety and well being is being protected.  Any disregard for cruelly is not acceptable in my book!

I also just became aware of how dire this situation is. I’m not sure what we can do when corrupt governments look the other way. It is hard to find foundations that are trustworthy to help as well. The world is so disillusioning.

In India, there just about 1000 tigers. For Tiger being the national Animal of our country, it would be a shame if they get extinct.

Thank you Kitty for writing this briliant article on such a sad subject.
Animals expect little but to be treated humanly but as you so clearly point out this is not always the way things go.
Thank you so much for sharing ,take care and enjoy your day.

Our world is so small when it comes to over hunting or removal of green areas, we need to take stock and stop, only take what we need to eat and that is not such grace and beauty in wild life.
