The World’s Ugliest Flowers

If you thought flowers are beautiful, well think again. There are those flowers nobody would want to receive as a gift, male or female, birthday or death-day. They are the ugliest flowers in the world.

You probably think women love flowers for their beauty and freshness. Well, think again. Not all flowers are beautiful. Some are so ugly that you would break up with any man or woman who presents them to you as a present on Valentine’s Day. Here are probably the world’s ugliest flowers but they are still just that flowers!

  1. Rafflesia – This is one of those flowers that would make your girlfriend fail to talk to you for a whole month. Instead of appreciating with a hug, she could probably walk away in tears after seeing it in your rough hands. It is mainly found in Malaysia.
  2. Monkey cup pitcher flower – It is not only ugly but insectivorous as well. It traps and feeds on insects and that is what it could do to the love your girlfriend has for you. It is just not the thing you present to anybody, period!
  3. Amorphophallus – Everything from the name to the shape and even the color is just ugly. How can a flower have such a name? Well, the name suggests the obvious but that does not make it worth so much. Just look at this.
  4. Water hemlock – This is not only ugly but dangerously poisonous too. It is found in the whole of North America from Canada to Mexico. The flower contains a potent poison known as cicutoxin whose consumption leads to nausea, vomiting, and tremors followed by severe cramps and convulsions.
  5. Birthworts – This is a group of flowering plants that do not look like flowers at all. They are also damn ugly and dangerous too even though medically it has antihelmintic property.

Two things about beauty. 1) it is always relative 2) Beauty lies in the eyes and minds of the beholder.

Thanks for this, first time I see these flowers! Very unique.
The last one looks more like cactus
So there are really many types of flowers in this world, some pretty, some ugly, same like human beings, however, some look pretty on the outside, but internally ugly, and vice versa.
However, some pretty inside and outside very fortunate, and some ugly inside and outside also which is poor thing.

Very strange flowers indeed. A very creative piece. So what do we do if we receive these flowers from a secret admirer? Throw them in his face…. hehheheee

Well, I am gonna just stick to the basics, on this one, Jimmy. Roses and Daisy’s, maybe not the most original, but, at least no one throws em in your face.

Great share Jimmy but they weren’t really ugly… I actually loved all of those, beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all and I tend to like things nobody else does! I really liked the phallic plant LOL

They look beautiful on the tree, especially the Water hemlock. But not good enough to be given as a gift.

Exotic flowers. Though they may not look so appealing to give to someone, these flowers are very much interesting. To me, they’re not really ugly….just different I guess. And that makes them stand out. I say they are flowers with “character” :-)

Interesting topic. The flowers are unique. The 1st impression of many of them to me was “plant”, not “flower”.

I don’t think these flowers are ugly. They are all unique. Another reminder that beauty is sometimes dangerous.
