The Sting Ray

Facts about the string ray.

The Sting Ray is a member of the Ray family and is easily distinguishable because of its distinct ability to sting animals.  The length of this animal is 6 metres and can weigh up to a maximum of 520 pounds.  Most commonly this species of animal is found in Fresh water.

During the gestation period of 4 months the female Sting Ray can produce a total of 3 eggs.  The life expectancy for this species of Ray is 10 years and they reach their sexual maturity at the age of 2.  Some species of Rays use their teeth to crush their prey against hard objects.
