The Pink Nosed Hippopotamus
The Pink Nosed Hippopotamus or the pink nose hippo, comes from the ancient Greek for "river horse". The Pink Nosed Hippopotamus lives in sub-Saharan Africa. But unlike the lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus who loves to wallow in mud and water the pink nosed Hippopotamus prefers more dryer land and has chosen for his home the Sahara Desert.
Many years ago both the pink nosed Hippopotamus and the lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus, lived quite happily together but due to change of climate and the reduction of water levels, the lesser spotted Hippopotamus chased the Pink Nosed Hippopotamus away from there natural habitat.
Both the Pink Nosed Hippopotamus and the lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus would in the daytime remain cool by staying in the water or mud. But once the lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus chased away the pink nosed Hippopotamus reproduction for the pink nosed Hippopotamus became impossible for both mating and childbirth occurred in the water for both species. This may explain why there are only 263 pink nosed Hippopotamus in existence today.
Scientists have recently found out that before the Pink Nosed Hippopotamus were chased out by the lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus. They had the same colored nose as the lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus. They believe this change came about because the pink nosed Hippopotamus no longer had access to water so they suffered sunburn on there nose’s.
Scientists believe that if the climate changes continue like they are the pink nosed Hippopotamus will be extinct within the next 20 years. In an attempt to save these animals Scientists have attempted to mate together a Pink Nosed Hippopotamus with a lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus but these attempts proved fruitless as the new born Hippopotamus had an orange nose and was shunned from both the Pink Nosed Hippopotamus and the lesser spotted nosed Hippopotamus. The poor baby Orange Nosed Hippopotamus had to be taken away form his mother and is now housed in the Bristol Zoo, Bristol England.
Because of the dire situation the Pink Nosed Hippopotamus now find then self in a special fund has been set up called “Save The Pink Nosed Hippopotamus Fund ( TPNHF). Please give generously the Pink Nosed Hippopotamus is relying on you. Help to prevent the extinction of this wonderful animal.
Please be honest with me let me know if you read this lot of bull until the end.
