The Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake

The Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake is a member of the reptile family and is easily distinguishable because of its distinct thick body and white under side.  The length of this animal is 22 inches and it can weigh up to a maximum of 5 ounces.  Most commonly this species of snake is found in North Carolina and Florida.

During the incubation period of 5 months the female Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake can produce a total of 10 eggs.  The life expectancy for this species of snake is 21 years and they reach their sexual maturity at the age of 3.  The Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake often uses its tail to lure prey towards them.
