The Critically Endangered Iberian Lynx – Help to Save This Wildcat!
There have been around for thousands of years, they are unique climbers and their name descends from the Greek word “Lunx” and from the Indo European “Leuk” which means light and brightness. The name of light was seen especially at night, in their reflective eyes.
I was very sad to hear about the Iberian Lynx, how little there are left in the world. The Lynx is in the Cat family line, being probably 4-6 times bigger than a normal house cat, some can off course be smaller, depending on its habitat.

This beautiful Cat the Iberian Lynx has a status of being Critically Endangered, some speculate that there might only be 84-143 adults left. Before hand the Iberian Lynx was seen as belonging to the Eurasian Lynx, as a subspecies of this animal, this has now been corrected, the these two lovely cats are now seen as two different species. The Iberian Lynx is a descendant of the Lynx Issiodorensis, skeletons of this ancient animal, is very identical to the modern day Lynx’s, but just shorter.

I actually think that this Lynx species is the one mentioned in Ancient Egypt, and they had a Lynx-God/Goddess. Off course I believe that the ancient people were aware of more Lynx spices, but the Iberian Lynx has a beautiful unique look, which I think they would have appreciated back then.

Again off course they are all beautiful creatures. If you look at the book of the Dead in ancient Egypt at the papyrus scene depicting Ra as a Cat, and he is killing the ancient peoples most fearsome devil known as Apophis the black serpent, actually he is a god of the cosmos, meant to symbolise the blackness beyond space, I would actually go as fare as to say, he was the Dark Matter. I believe that it is the Lynx god that is killing Apophis (others also believe this), but it is further proven by their own ancient texts, such as we see in the Book of the Dead. The next post on my blog Mysteries of Ancient Egypt will be about the Lynx God.
WWF brings more light upon the matter of helping these magnificent creatures, So I would like to ask the people of Spain, would you Please plant a cork tree!
