The Capybara

Facts about the capybara rodent.

The Capybara is a rodent like animal that is most often found in Portugal.  Did you know it is currently the largest living rodent in the world?  These creatures are found in aquatic areas because every once in a while they enjoy a nice swim.  This animal eats its own fecal matter to help with digestion.

They are very social and can be found in large groups of up to 25.  They are extraordinary swimmers which helps a lot when dealing with predators.  Their number one predator is the Anaconda.  They are expected to live for around 4-9 years.  They can even hold their breath for 4 minutes.
