The Adam and Eve Factor in Evolution
Published by Can you believe in Evolution and believe in Adam and Eve? According to science, the answer is "Yes!".
If you understand evolution you understand that humans evolved from ape like ancestors. This took place over thousands of years, with one man, one mutation, being the Adam that started the human race. Believe it or not, but every man on the earth today can trace their linage back to one man. This man has been dubbed “Scientific Adam”.
Imagine primitive humans, living in Africa, hunting, and gathering. Their tools are crude, their skills are basic. Then one male baby is born, one of many male babies born at the time, but he was born perhaps with a slightly larger brain capacity than the others. Something gave him an advantage. He grows up and perhaps develops a better tool, or better way of hunting. He survives. He fathers children. They too inherit his larger brain, and his better ability to reason and think. They survive, they father children, they out compete others of their kind, and are able to reproduce, until every single male can be traced to this one man, scientific Adam.
This is not a speculation. Scientists have tested so many men from all over the globe and found out that regardless of nationality, or race, all can be traced, through their Y-chromosome to one man.
To be fair Scientific Adam had a father, grandfather and so on, so every living human male can also trace to these men as well. There were also other men alive and having children at the same time as “Adam”, the difference being that not a single one of them have produced a a direct unbroken genetic male line to the present day. In other words not every human can be traced to any one man other than Scientific Adam (and of course, his forefathers).
Why Only Men?
We know this is true of men, and Adam because men have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. There are certain characteristics that are only on the Y chromosome. Women have two x chromosomes. Scientists were able to pinpoint certain genetic markers and found that all men have one marker in common, meaning that they are all related.
Through their father, all women are also related to the man known as Scientific Adam.
Who Was Adam?
All we know, which is not much, is that Scientific Adam lived some time around 90,000 to 60,000 years ago, he fathered at least two sons (if he fathered only one, that son would be Adam), both of whom would have fathered at least one son. He lived in Africa and very likely had some sort of advantage over all other males at that time.
Some scientists refer to Adam as Y-chromosomal Adam, and yes, there was very likely an Eve, but she lived and died long before Adam, possibly even 50,000 years earlier.

I was actually told by a biology teacher in high school who was not suppose to talk about evolution that when each species evolved the weaker species died out. Therefore, while man may have come from an ape like creature he did not come from an ape or else the ape would have died our (or man would have)

I like how you presented the Scientific Adam with facts. This is also my concern when Bible scholars always points out that Earth is just 2000 years old. Then where will the Dinosaurs fall? I have a better explanation and I base it on Scientific data, which we all know will stand by itself.

Job 1;1 Talks about the sons of God and Satan was among them. Before humanity God had supernatural created sons godlike and able to do supernatural things and also creators but they like any children were to obey their father before messing around and getting into trouble. Also in Genisis 2;2 the sons of God saw the daughters of men were beautiful and took them as wives and there were giants in the earth. Some think these sons of God were sons of Cain the first born son and cursed son of Adam who was cursed by God because he slew his brother Abel. But that is not so. These sons of God cause giant children to be born they had supernatural powers. Some of the Roman, Norse and Greek Myths have merit to them. Atlas and Hercules for example among others. This displeased the Creator God the Father because his created sons of God were forbidden to take human daughters as wives and did anyway the were rebellious still. They caused a race of people that were dangerous and often cruel and murderers. Because of that God the creator son how bad it had become and only found one man Noah after about a 1000 year period of humanity and he saved Noah and his family alone in the great flood that God created on the earth. Prior to that flood there had been no rain fall but the earth was watered by special dews and springs. Once again things changed due to rebellion, wickedness and evil. God started over with Noah and his sons and their wives. But due to the rebellion of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit and due to the rebellion of the supernatural sons of God taking human wives the genetic traits of man were changed and ever since there has been a gene of evilness in mankind stronger in some humans than in others. My interest is tracing the flow of scent as it enters the nose through the nasal linings connecting the nose sensors as Linda Buck had previously discovered. And study the effects of scent on the human male brain. Of particular interest to me is the isovaleric acid which, I have an intuitive feeling, is a “brain food”.

Hi Brenda, I am commenting on your Cowboy article, the one with
your g-grandfather Claude Handcock, I also left a message on that post. I was intrigued to see the Handcock name, as I am doing research on the Handcocks of Carrantryla Dunmore, Co.Galway Ireland. A Mabel Handcock of Dunmore emigrated to USA to Wyoming, and lived on the Sundance ranch, in or around the 1890’s. There has to be a connection here, and she did have a brother Claude, as well as brothers Gerald, Lionel and Cecil and a sister called Evelyn. If, as in the theory of evolution, we conjoin with this possibility the factors of causality, gradualism, mutation, and adaptation, it does not seem to me to add anything radically different to these other forms of change.

This is all interesting speculation based on a limited set of facts. It looks a lot better than the biblical literalists’ 6000-year-old universe, but it’s still only speculation.
For years, North American anthropology suffered under the vise grip of the “Clovis first” dogma. Scientists were afraid to dig below the Clovis horizon because of a fear that what they might find could jeopardize their careers. That’s skepticism run amok — descending into self-indulgent ridicule, rather than selfless restraint and humility in the search for answers. Okay, what does this prove? Scientists have egos and sometimes wear blinders. They are not as unbiased as they would like everyone to believe.

Stephen Hawking dismisses God because he thinks gravity and the laws of nature will automatically create the universe. Think about this for a moment. What put gravity there? What put the laws of physical reality there? In fact, what put space and time there? What was Hawking smoking? No “need” for God? Interesting.

Genesis holds a great deal of hidden wisdom. And, contrary to what biblical literalists would have us believe, the seemingly outrageous longevity of the early patriarchs is not what it seems on the surface. The difference between scientific Adam and his father was likely imperceptible, except perhaps for the normal differences of facial features and overall body shape — differences between any father and son.

Genetic science does show that people trace their lineage back to very small handful of people, but I have not read of it being a single individual. However, we are all not only descended from Adam, but Noah, as well. He and his wife, and their 3 sons and their wives were saved in the flood. About 99% of all fossils are found in a sedimentary layer that is worldwide. Sedimentary means it was deposited by and settled out of water. I believe the creation account in Genesis, but I won’t go so far as to say the Earth is only 6000 years old. I’ll ask Jesus about that when I see Him. This is largely based on the genealogies laid out in the bible. However, ancient Jewish custom did not always list every single man that “begat” the next generation, but sometimes skipped generations between prominent individuals where the lineage was commonly known. I don’t know what MountainNana was smoking, but it must have been some good stuff. Hell was not created for humans. It was created for Satan and the third of the angels that rebelled with him. People choose it as their eternal destiny by rejecting the grace and forgiveness that God freely offered through His ONLY begotten Son. Satan was a created heavenly being who was cast down to Earth and prowls about like a lion preying on the weak who have rejected God’s protection. He was given dominion over the Earth, but man, beginning with Adam, was given authority over Satan. Yes, there were “giants in the land.” They were the Nephilim, offspring from the fallen angels in their attempt to corrupt God’s creation, but God had a plan of redemption from the beginning. If you believe that God created the heavens and the Earth, and created Man in His image as His crowning glory, then wonderful! Just don’t read into it and try to make up your own story about it. Creation is what it is. If you want to think that something came out of nothing, that order randomly came out of chaos, that life somehow magically came together from some random chemical interaction, then that is up to you. I’m not the thought police. There can only be one truth, and that truth is Jesus Christ, our loving God who wants us to trust Him and love Him back. I know Him to be true because of the change He has worked inside of me. You can believe the sky is pink all you want, but it’s still blue. My job is simply to proclaim the truth, and it’s your choice to believe it or not.

It’s the chicken and egg question again.
“Adam” must have had a mother. When does one species become another? Science can only address general groupings. It isn’t meant to deal with the fuzzy edges of evolution.
