Ten Awesome Hybrid Animals

Here are ten amazing hybrid aniamls. They look wierd and funny but there is also information on them. How they breed; naturally, in captivity or through artificial insesimination. How they look and there behaviour.

1.       Liger/tigon

The liger is a cross breed of a male lion and a female tiger while a tigon is cross of a male tiger and a lioness. This two species were discovered in captivity; the captive lions and tigers lacked strong instincts and bred with each other. In both species the male is infertile but the females can breed. Known male hybrids have all been sterile. However, many reach sexual maturity and copulate with lionesses, tigresses or with female hybrids.

2.       Leopon

The Leopon is a cross breed between lionesses and male leopards. The mother of this species seems to see no difference between these cubs and normal lion cubs. The species is sterile. The head looks like a lion’s and even has a shaggy coat. Unsurprisingly the rest of the body is similar to that of a leopard.

3.       Beefalo

The beefalo is a hybrid of domestic cows and wild buffalo. There are farms which milk these hybrids and studies suggest that they produce better milk than normal cows, in terms of quantity and the quality is unhindered. The meat of these animals is also said to be healthier, plus juicier, sweeter and milder. This species is sterile.

4.       Wolphin

A Wolphin is a rare hybrid formed from a cross between a bottlenose dolphin and a false killer whale. A wolphin’s size colour and shape is a fifty-fifty mixture of the parents. The bottlenose dolphin has 88 teeth while the false killer whale has 44 and the Wolphin has 66! This species is unsterile.

5.       Zorse

A zorse is a hybrid between a horse and a zebra. There are many amazing versions of this animal depending on the breed of the parent horse. There is also a species called zonkey which are the hybrid of a zebra and a donkey and another one which is the hybrid of a pony and a zebra which is called a zony.

6.       Grolar/Pizzly

The Grolar or Pizzly is a hybrid of polar bears and brown bears/grizzly. This species occurred due to accidental captive breeding. This species has been hunted down but was puzzled over until the first bred Grolar/Pizzly in captivity was born.

7.       Cama

This species is a hybrid between a llama and a camel. Because of great size differences in the two species, the cama is bred via artificial insemination. The hooves of this animal are like that of a llama while the ears and tail relate to the camel. The body is an intermediate between the two species except the hump is missing!

8.       Iron age pig

This species is a cross between domestic pigs and wild boars. It is bred for its meat which is used to make specialized sausages and is sold in specialized meat trades. The Iron Age pig is tamer than the wild boar but less tractable the normal swine.

9.       Hybrid peasant

The hybrid peasant is a mixed breed of two types of peasant fowls. The two peasant fowls are the golden peasant and the Amherst peasant. The head looks rather lordly as the animal stares at you with big eyes and what appears to be the wig of a judge from old Britain. The colours of the feathers seem to be close to the Amherst fowl while the shape of them is a lot like the ones of the Golden peasant.

10.   Wolf dog

The wolf dog is a cross between wolfs and dogs. Wolves are much stronger than tamed dogs but far more aggressive and independent. Once the wolves are bred with tamed dog the offspring tends to be stronger and more able than usual dogs while more loving and trusting than wolves. However, the wolf dog tends to lack instincts from both parents and often gets confused in situations as to whether act like a dog or a wolf.
