1. World’s Oldest Germinated Seed Title

The world’s oldest germinated seed is the Arctic Lupine or Lupinus arcticus which is 10,000 of dormancy. Other world’s oldest germinated seed include the Asian Water Lotus or Nelumbo nucifera which is 1,200 years and the Date Palm which is 2,000 years. Its binomial name is Phoenix dactylifera.

The title for the world’s smallest seed belongs to the Opium Poppy or Papaver somviferum.

3. World’s Smallest Plant, Smallest Fruit and Smallest Flowering Plant Title

The world record holder title for the smallest plant belongs to the Watermeal or Wolffia.  It is also commonly known as Duckweed. For comparison, a bouquet of one dozen plants will easily fit on the head of a pin. These plants are less than 2 millimeters (0.079 in) long.
