Kitefin Sharks

Kitefin shark eats the body parts of other large fishes.

Kitefin shark belongs to dogfish shark species and Dalatiidae family. Kitefin shark lives at the dept of 200 to 500 meters of water and has a thin body with thick lips, large eyes, short snout, small upper teeth and narrow lower teeth larger than the upper teeth.

Kitefin shark are also dangerous for humans like many other sharks but they have a long history of being consumed in countries like Japan, eastern Atlantic, South Africa and Portugal. The skin of Kitefin shark is used to make furniture and jewelry.

Kitefin shark feeds on bony fishes like green-eyes, lantern-fishes, gad-ids, bonito, snack mackerels, sea toads and also on animals such as small sharks.

The most interesting thing about Kitefin shark though is that it feeds itself on other large animals by taking small bites from their body.
