Great White Shark, Gentle But Deadly

The true nature of one of Earths’ top predators.

It is commonly thought that the White Shark, more reknown as the Great White Shark, is an extremely violent animal, hunting humans and killing them as it pleases. The truth is it IS an Apex predator, making it the top of the oceanic food chain, but in all reality its only threat is humans. The image of the great white shark being a man eater came mainly from the movie JAWS, showing it as a creature that hunts down humans for the sole purpose of killing and eating them. In reality though, attacks on humans from these majestic creatures is solely a case of mistaken identities, them mistaking us as something in their main diet and taking a nip, but since they are such large animals that little taste usually leads to amputation and death. If anything, the presence of humans in their environment would scare them, causing them to stay at a distance and observe as we are something not found regularily in their naturan habitat. The Great White Shark can not handle eating a human being, as its digestion system doesnt allow it to digest the ratio of bones, fat and and muscle found in our bodies, unlike its usual prey. It is proven that even more deaths are caused in the US each year by attacks from dogs than these sharks, making the ratio significantly small. All in all, if youre swimming around and fear the sharks, its the Tiger Shark or the Bull Shark you should fear as they will attack humans knowing its them, not the Great White.
