According to its location in our body, muscles where divided into three types. Cells in these three types of muscles looks different from each other.
There are more than 600 muscles in the human body. These muscles makes up the muscular system. The muscular system allows us to move in place to place and makes organs of our body such as the heart, to function. In the blood vessels, muscles helps blood to run through out the body. Together with the bones, they worked to help us move.
Tendon, a tough strip of tissue connects our muscles to our bones. The muscles work in pairs to move bones. They become shorter and thicker when they contract. The times when we bend our arm, a muscle contract allowing us to pull our lower arm up. Since muscles cannot push, another muscle must contract to pull our arm backward. In a pair of muscle, the other muscle relaxes when one muscle contracts. In every movement we make, we uses our muscles.
There are muscles that can be controlled and there are muscles that cannot be controlled. Muscles that can be controlled are called voluntary muscles. Examples of these are the muscles of the arms and legs. We can move these muscles whenever we want.
Muscles that cannot be controlled are called involuntary muscles. These muscles are not attached to the bones. We are not usually aware that these muscles are working inside the body. Examples of these involuntary muscles, is the muscle in our stomach that contracts and relax to squeeze the food we eat and the tiny involuntary muscles in our skin which make our hair stand if we feel something strange such as feeling of coldness. Another example is the heart, the heart is made up of involuntary muscle tissues. It works freely without us having to think about it.
According to its location in our body, muscles where divided into three types, the visceral, the skeletal and the cardiac muscle. Cells in these three types of muscles looks different from each other. One of the three types of muscles is the visceral muscles. Visceral muscles can be found in the walls of internal organs. They are long, thin and pointed at each end. They contract slowly and rhythmically, and cant be controlled consciously. Examples of these muscles are muscles located in the walls of the stomach, intestine, blood vessels and bladder.
Skeletal muscle is another type of muscle. These muscle are responsible for the skeletal movements in our body. The skeletal muscle are cylinder in shape, long and striated. These muscles are voluntary and can be use whenever we want. Examples of these muscles are the biceps and triceps.

Cardiac muscles is another muscle type. These muscles can be found in the walls of the heart. Their muscle cells will branched out and weaved together. Muscles in the heart is a cardiac muscle.
