The Incredible Human Genome Project: Brilliant Stem Cell Research – The Marvelous Promise to Cure Degenerative Diseases and Genetic Disorders
The human Genome and stem cell research projects hold out a marvelous promise for mankind, not only do they offer protection against; but they also promise to reverse the effects of so many of the once incurable diseases such as Parkinson, Alzheimer, Huntington, Sickle cell, Leukemia, Cancer, AIDS among others.

What is the Human Genome Project?
It is a type of genetic engineering in which scientists study the behavior of the genes, then, collect and record data about the entire set of these genes (100,000 within each DNA): then making it available so doctors can use the data in deciphering treatment that will reverse the effects of several of the incurable diseases that we see today: such as Parkinson, Alzheimer, diabetes, sickle cell, Leukemia, breast and prostrate cancer, AIDS etc.
How does it Work?

To be effective the scientists must find out the precise order, and location in which the 100,000 genes are positioned within the 23 pairs of chromosomes and DNA of each cell. And as they find the different genes types that are responsible for the genetic disorder, they pinpoint their position; and channel the information into a powerful computer database. The data can then be used to produce a type of genetic profile. This allows doctors to decipher with greater accuracy, which type of drug or therapy is most suited for the particular profile of his /her patient; it also makes it possible for them to start their therapeutical treatment while the data for other genes is still being catalogued.
So far, they have collected and catalogued information on millions of these genes. If fact, most obstetricians have already started to use the data in treating their patients. For example: in their prenatal testing, they have developed advanced techniques that have pinpointed sickle cell anemia, and spina-bifida among several other types of embryonic genetic disorders, and the findings are sometimes as early as 6 weeks into the pregnancy. Then the ability to prescribe the treatment allows the parents-to-be the option of starting corrective therapy during the embryonic / fetal stages, and thereby increasing the effectiveness of the therapy.
The Stem Cell Research is related to the Human genome project in that it can be used to supply the treatment needed to fix the defective gene identified in the G. study.
What Does the Stem Cell Actually Do?

In this study the scientific researchers remove cells from an organ: such as the liver or the spleen for that matter. Then with the aid of biochemicals, they are able to manipulate and tweak the cell causing it to develop into many different types, (specialized types, unspecified type,) depending on what types are needed to replace the defective ones.
“This is a giant leap for mankind and another brilliant accomplishment for science” said New York Times in 2004. Even though both projects have their drawbacks in being very costly, they are still something worth waiting for because they promise not only protection against; but also to reverse the effects of so many of the once incurable diseases. So sufferers of Alzheimer, Huntington, Parkinson, Sickle cell, Leukemia, diabetes, cancer can start looking up, because medical cure is straight ahead.
Another amazing feature and benefit of these projects is that, doctors can test to find out what is a person’s risk of contracting a particular type of illness or, the risk factor of passing it on to their offspring; having identified their risk, Non-suffers or people who have a family history of a particular genetic disorder do not have to wait until the disease strikes. They can start now by having their genetic profile checked and have their doctor work out the treatment that would be best suited for them well in advance. So if or when the disease strikes, they are well ahead of it.

MAN PROPOSES AND GOD DISPOSES
we all thought and rightly too that AIDS will have no cure, you know better to day.
Genomes are the order of the day, why cant u think of importing life from over populated places like India and China and spend more money on living people, those below the poverty lines and then we should all accept genes also are susceptible to mutation and change.
But we should not shudder and keep playing the genome game

Stem cell transplantation is a great scientific advancement. However, it has to be done with proper caution as this can trigger abnormal cell growths too which may be cancerous, as the recently reported case in Israel. Thanks for sharing. This is a well-researched and well-written post.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you my friends for your kind, encouraging post. But like some of you have pointed out, we must still approach the unknown with care and caution. However we have come a very long way, using the resources, and marvellous brain capacity with which our creator has endowed us. Thanks again for your support.

Monica,to be completely honest,I’ve been very interested in this stem cell research since it was first discussed and debated publicly,But I’m not so sure it’s such a good idea,I haven’t really made up my mind.Messing with mother nature and God’s handiwork makes me a little nervous,I think this can cause some distortions in cell development, also If they can clone an animal, you know secretly in some government science lab they are trying to clone people.I believe this is how governments have always been.If people or personalities are cloned think of the damage that could be the result of some mad man leader of the military in any said country. My vote is still out on this one.

Thanks again my frienda for your comments. I can understand that some of you will have reservation on the topic, and that is okay. However I still want you to know what I found out after researching a topic that captured my interest. It allows everyone to see what is available in terms of treating their illnesses.

Stem Cell Enhancers: The NEW Science
Standing singly, away from all the controversy, some of the scientific community is giving rise to the world’s very first patented, organic stem cell enhancer. With only a single dose of this modern day amazement your body can begin the renewal process. In fact, within just one hour after taking this wonder supplement, three to 4 million, yes MILLION stem cells are added to your bloodstream and go to work.
StemEnhance is a revolutionary breakthrough, all natural product that supports adult stem cell physiology. It’s the first patented product on the market in the latest phytoceutical category called “Stem Cell Enhancers”.

Great article. Not many of us that don’t suffer or have friends or family that suffer from one of the incurables that will benefit greatly from this research. Parkinsons and psoriasis as the two that I regularly look for the latest news on. I just hope that the knowledge remains with those looking to cure, and is not siezed by those that will use it to kill or create monsters. Chilling thoughts…. Good, thought provoking article. Thanks. Aldrin
You might want to read it through a couple more times to iron out some minor errors, but as I say to everyone on here, I’m no expert…believe me…

Your article is scientifically great. Well composed. This will draw many reviews! I agree with the stem cell plan..I am concerned with where the stem cells come from. Scientist have more options than live embryos. I can’t agree with killing babies. We have plenty of placentas and umbilical cords. I’m curious with where this may lead us. KN

I was under the impression the initial estimates of the total number of genes being 80,000-140,000 genes had been changed drastically by the end of the human genome project to be 20,000-30,000 genes? I think i must have misunderstood something, could somebody please explain where I’ve gone wrong?
On July 22, 2009 at 7:48 am
just one other thing, for people who are worried about cloning humans and that somebody somewhere will try and clone hitler or have some equally silly idea of bringing back a dictator, don’t worry. it’s not possible to bring people back from the dead. clones will only have the same genetic make-up – not the same life experiences. identical twins are clones. they occur when a fertilised egg splits into two blastocysts during early stages of mitosis. they have the same DNA, but the environment treats each individual separately so they become unique and different people. if someone, for example, managed to clone hitler, they would only end up with a person who looked like him and had a similar METHOD of thinking. not neccessarily someone who would want to dominate races, but perhaps someone good at taking responsibility and leading iniatives in drastic new ideas? as for the concerns of premature ageing in clones, they dont age prematurely. they are the age of the cell the nucleus is taken from. we age because our cells are constantly dividing, replicating and replacing themselves and, over time, due to the law of averages, mistakes in copying the huge genetic code they have to copy will inevitably be made. so if the cell the nucleus is taken from is from a 10 year old organism, that cell has already undergone 10 years of division and replication in which to make mistakes and age. i am failing to see why so many people cannot seem to understand and grasp the concept that no two organisms will be 100% identical. all humans share 99.9% of the human genome anyway so we’re all pretty close aren’t we?
