Six Scary Things About The Brain You Didn’t Know
The brilliant brain! here are six facts about the brain that you didn’t know.
The brain enables people to feel, think, and move, as well as automatically regulating most of the activities that go on inside the body.

The largest part of the brain is the cerebrum, the seat of perception and conscious behaviour. the cerebrum has two halves, or hemispheres.
Each halve is covered by a thin layer called the cerebal cortex. despite its thinness, the cortex is the site of all elements of consciousness.
The brain controls the heart and breathing rates, as well as other activities including swallowing =, sneezing and coughing.
Apart from the skull the brain has three connective tissue membranes or meninges or protection. beneath this matter is a wide space that is filled with cerebrospinal fluid.this fluid forms a liquid cushion that reduces the weight of the brain and protects it from knocks ,and jolts.
The walnut like surface of the brain is due to its being folded into sulci (fold) and gyri (bulges). this means that a large surface area of cortex can be squeezed into the limited space within the skull.

Sadly these are things that I already knew… the joys of grade 11 biology all those years ago.

Interesting article, even though I knew most of it already.
To some of the other commenters: Why the nasty comments? It seems that some of you are just bitter because your articles aren’t on the Hot Content list.

The people are commenting like that because the title says “6 things you didn’t know”, but apparently many people already know these 6 things. I too, was expecting something a little different. One thing is…what is so scary about these six things?

The article was interesting. I find these kinds of titles “things you didn’t know” or “books you haven’t read” etc. to be just a little bit presumptuous. Most people have no idea what I do or don’t know, which books I’ve read, etc. But don’t mind me – the body of the article was interesting and informative.

nice (:

interesting article, although you might want to do the six things in numbered form, that would make it more reader-friendly…oh and by the way, what’s so scary about these things?

It was an interesting article, but I think the title could have been a little more appropriate.

If your gonna discuss the brain you could make it more interesting if you go into the intics like nuero transmitter and transmission paths and how it is the only part of the body that does not feel pain and on and on the brain is a deep subject.

Informative article, but I am not sure where the “scary” part comes in.
