Rape: Part 2
An unheard story of a rapist.
In my previous article “Why Do Men Rape?“, I have received a lots of interesting comments, which made me reconsider my point of view. So, I thought to write another article to give a more holistic picture of the fact. Rape is an act which has been considered wrong by laws, religion and society. Generally, there are kinds of viewpoint for any issue i.e. opposition, support and diplomacy. Luckily, in case of rape there is no supporter and every perspective is either against or holds a diplomatic stance. The diplomatic stance, from my perspective is held by an economist who tries to monetize every issue and then try to see whether it is profitable or not. For example, during the ages of slavery economics was against hired labor but today the economics is in favor of hired labor as compared to slavery. This is a very tricky perspective and would not be going too much in detail.
The problem of rape has been in existence since ages and various experts like psychologists and criminologists generally claim to have a good understanding of this problem. Various efforts made by different groups like strict punishment by the laws, religious fear, social boycott, women rights, etc. However, I still cannot understand that why this problem is still persisting if people have understanding of this problem and if everyone is making an efforts from their side. When most Western countries can get rid of the problem of hunger, world can get rid of the problem of smallpox, then why the problem of rape is not eliminated.
From this I can conclude one thing that there is some aspect of the problem, which is still a mystery to all the so-called masters of this field. A problem which is generally considered as social issue might have some scientific explanation. This problem might have it solution hidden in science rather than in religion, society or laws. For example, violence (another related issue) is also in existence since ages and no successful solution has been found till now. But, when task of solving the problem of violence is taken up by the science, scientists came out with an interesting result. They have found a variant of gene called MAO-A, which has been shown responsible for violence. Similarly, it might be possible that there might be some variant of some gene/s present which in combination or alone might be acting as a trigger for raping tendency of humans.
