Prevent Injury: Prevent Loss of Function
Injury causes inflammation, leading to loss of function.
Everyone is prone to injury. But do you know where your injury might lead you, if left untreated? An injury to the body would initially trigger a vascular response particularly to the site. This causes the blood vessels to vasoconstrict or to vasodilate. A vascular response occurs along with the appearance of redness in the injured site, as well as the feeling of heat or warmth. The vascular response would then trigger the body’s immunomeditors ( Prostaglandin, Bradykinin,, Histamine, Substance P) in order for the body to compensate with the injury. There will then be an increase in capillry permeability, which would cause intervascular to interstitial fluid shifting, swelling or edema on the injured site occurs. Swelling would cause compression to the nerve endings. Compression of the nerve endings is one of the reason why we feel pain during an injury. Because of further compression to the nerve endings, the affected body part would tend to loss function due to continuous pain during movement.
