Future Decoded
This topic explains how scientifically you can predict your future.
Almost everyone believes in luck. So everyone is interested to know what future holds for them. Now to know future there are several ways like reading palms, face, dreams, etc. However, as far as I know, no method gives you a perfect picture of future. Also most of them are not scientifically proved. Even the ones which are logical are mainly based on statistics and with no concrete proof.
But, now with the advancements in the field of biotechnology, I feel that one day we will be able to know our future with perfection. This is because according to a biotechnologist, our each and every action is controlled by our genes. Also, it is our present actions which determine our future actions. So, if we are able to find the genes responsible for our behavior, emotions, thinking, etc. then we can find out our future. This is because then we know how our genes will express in different conditions.
For example if we know the genes whose expression results in anger then we can determine that whether the person is short tempered or not. Accordingly we can conclude how he will react in different conditions. Now if we combine the effects of all characters then we can precisely tell what would be the person’s next step in given conditions.
The biggest advantage of this method is that we can even alter our future by just altering our genes. However, the precision of the prediction of a particular event increase with the increase in the number of people whose genes are studied.

oh my god… this is really hilarious! do you even know anything about biotech?
On March 12, 2008 at 11:11 pm
u r talkin bout nature of a person.. u can’t predict future by simply lookin at d genes…u can tell bout nature yes but nt future…u can predict diseases n syndromes,bt dats all…nuthin more dan dat…
On March 13, 2008 at 11:01 am
future depends upon the nature of the person too and if u can predict someone’s nature then y can’t you predict someone’s future?

secondly,
u ppl. only tell me then how come some ppl. can predict future…………gimme some scientific explanation….if u wanna contradict me.

buddy…..wat u r sayin is possibly theoreticaly but not practicaly….
u say we can change our future by addition of genes…..but brother….tn d expression of dose genes wont b regulated by you ….the normal transcription - translation will carry on at its own accord…..u wont b d one controlling it ….
u say “genes that encode for anger will be identified”……id juz like to bring to ur kind notice that d expressed genes may not b the sole substance triggering anger ……it may b a synergestic effect …
xplain dis now…

aditya, i’m not saying that you can use this concept now only……but as you agree it is possible………currently theoretically (as u say)but atleast it is possible…………however even i agree that it can become reality only when the whole human body is completely studied including genes, its expression and their effects……….which can take years to centuries to get completely solved…..
secondly, as my gene alteration does not only mean the addition of a gene, it can also be elemination or substitution, etc…..also my dear friend, ur say that transcription and translation can’t be controlled by me i feel is not right…….because i can alter the expression of trnscription and translation factors which in turn can alter transcription and translation.
last thing i wud like to say that during example i have used word “genes” not “gene” which in itself indicates that i’m considering the combined effect of many genes in regulating anger………..and no matter what ever is the condition u must be knowing that each everything is regulated by regulating our genes.

PEOPLE…..
r v talking Science Fiction here????
If not, then sum1 plz explain to me, how in d world is “ur guide” planning to determine the future from genes !!!
Dude, u say that genes control everything v do????
wake up n read bout “Environmental Effects” on a person’s Identity, which completely kicks butt, as far as genes go…
E.g.( Hypothetical) 2 guys, EXACTLY same genes…(monozygotic twins, simply put)….
1 is brought up in New York, the other in Baghdad…
According 2 ur theory, ur study of their genes will(must) lead u to conclude that they will react in d same way to a particular condition. But the fact of the matter is, 1 mite kick d hell out of another person, while the other mite juz say, go 2 hell n walk on….
Genes cant predict wat a person is, or will be…
thats y, thr a different BRANCH of Science called Psycology wich studies human behaviour…
a person will not slap his best frnd if he calls him a bastard, but a stranger tries dat, n he mite as well take home a few broken teeth…
n Ur “genetic future” wud b stumped with this reaction…
n even if v consider 4 a moment, dat wat u say is possible, do u even realise d amount of bio informatics n computation dat will go into predicting 1 SINGLE reaction????
22000 human genes, n a few trillion nervous signals, and many trillions of past n present experiences, memories, actions reactions, stored in dat persons brain, juz 2 find out how he will react???????
i mite as well talk 2 him n find out….
Plz, think over all this b4 u write nything more on this theory of urs…

yatindra,
i agree with you that environment play a very crucial role…….in determining the characterstics of a person. if i’m not wrong then then the environment affect the gene expression.
now as u said of two twins with exactly same gentic make up but grown up in different environment will react differently to same conditions. i agree to that point.
But,if you know the complete genetic make up;the various genes, expression of each gene and role of each gene in each every biochemical reaction, signal transduction etc. then it can easily help in predicting the outcome of the person in a particular environment because of the different expression of gene.
now, as you said two twins grown in different environment and now come across same conditions may show different reactions. this is true as you will also agree that it was due to different environment condition which has altered the gene expression. but, if you would have known the gene expression map of both twins then it can easily be predicted that how each twin will react in same situation.
ur last point about the complexity of the problem…….on this i have already said that i don’t see this concept to be feasible now……….but can be possible in ditant future and that can be even after few centuries.

mr.ur guide…..
u feel d concept is nice ……rite….
njoy wit it buddy….
yatindra buddy….der aint no use xplainin 2 him ….dat its a hypothetical concept…..
n dat der are a billion factors xcept the genes that regulate a persons behaviour….
neways …. i thnk this is a futile debate…..so wont post nethin further….
njoy bbye

ok………….if u all don’t agree with me.
then u only tell me that how some people can see future or predict someone’s future?…………give me a scientific reason.

Even GOD dont know about his future and he also cant…. he just tunes in at the present status and try to revovers it…!!!!!.

lolzzzzz…….
absolutly hilarious..
hey ur guide…yo probably not in yo senses…makin fun of biotech or wat???
On April 14, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Hey… Nice sci fi there… Probably a nice idea for Speilberg for his new movie…
You are indeed very creative… But this is not possible. Do you think that you can predict a person’s future from his genes??? No way… It is absolute crazy stuff!!!
Lets take one of your sentences: “For example if we know the genes whose expression results in anger then we can determine that whether the person is short tempered or not.”
Do you think we can predict as to whether that person will be angry exactly after 45.369 hours from now??????
Moreover, temper or anger is a result of an external stimulus, which results in the hormonal changes (increased epinephrine), which in turn sends signals to the nuclear receptors of the target cells and affect the transcription of certain genes. Pl brush up your endocrinology before giving such statements.
Anyway… Nice imagination… You can quit biotech and go in for some story writing.

Mr. Ur Guide,
one small doubt for me….can u plzz tell me one single application of ur theory…by far i can’t get any frm ue thoery….it’s worth n very useful of screening a persons genes in predicting the genetically inherited n other diseases he’s going to face in the future…..but i can’t see any use in prediction or finding a persons feeling( happiness….anger…sorrow…)….plzz do answer my question.
Anyways u do think…..but search a good channel for it….All D best….
N this is especially for u “Mr. Ur guide” ….everytime one questions ur theory ur asking to explain ” how some people can see future or predict someone’s future?”…..Very few mortals believe in this type of prediction……these prediction by reading a persons palm…feet….face etc., r written by ancient ppl in our Hindu mythological books…….unfortunately none r alive now…..none r scientifically proved to be correct…it’s just proposal……

hello swamy,
as u have written that u r btech biotech so probably u wud be knowing a lot abt dna and stuff.
so then u must be knowing that from genes only proteins are formed. ( i mean to the concept of central dogma)……so, now am i wrong if i say that all proteins are coded by our gene or our gene decide the protein presence in our body.
if u don’t agree, then don’t read down else proceed:
so, u agree that it would be oue genetic make up which will decide the protein which can be present in our body. now, for gene to make a protein it(gene) need to be activated. now, the activation of the gene depends on the various environmental conditions.
if u agree then only read further:
now, if we study our brain then u will find that the various feelings which we develop are mainly due to release of certain chemicals in our brain. and now even scientists are proving this concept.
now, it is known that the whole functioning of our body is mainly controlled by our genes and proteins. so, this means the release of certain chemicals in our brain must be controlled by certain proteins which are in turn synthesized from our genes.
noe gene is activate by certain environmental condition.
so let us suppose that the gene (or genes) which get activated on saying an abusive word. then this gene can cause the synthesis of certain proteins which can cause the release of certain chemicals which can cause the development of anger. now, extent of anger developed will depend on the extent of chemical released which will depend on the various proteins which are responsible for its release. now, this proteins amount and activity will be determined by their corresponding genes which can either be under expressed or over expressed. it may be possible that these genes are somewhat modified to give more or less active protein. now whatever, is the case it is altering the intensity of feeling.
if u agree only then read furhter:
so, now if we know the genes of the proteins which are responsible for the release of the desired chemical and if we study the expression rate of the genes and the activty of the product in a particular test condition. in this case the test condition is the abusive word then we can tell that if the person come across such condition then the intensity of anger will be say some y amount.

hey wat i think that there is nothing new in this idea for every child gets the genes from both the parents so he/she should behave in a manner that is somehow common to both the parents..but this doesnot happen really for children can be totally different from the parents in behaving to the same situation..
SECONDLY, we all behave naturally and instinctively till we are kids..after that we get programmed to behave in a stuation coz we start thinking..so if i am getting tensed about a situation right now, i may just laugh at it the next time it encounters me..so i learnt from my experience and changed my behavior the next time to the same situation..
so when everyone is succumbing to change how can we predict future..the genes are the same only logically we get programmed to behave in a situation diferently..so decoding future is still a mystery and a challenge for mankind!!!!!
