In 3rd September 20008, National Geographic has released a fantastic news. Archaeologists have discovered Eva de Naharon. Like many other ancient people, lived in the cave for shelter. However, she was no ordinary person! Archaeologist found her inside a cave in Mexico and she was buried under the sea for millennia. According to radiocarbon 14, she is 13,000 year of age, surely outlived Otzi in this context.

The fact is Eva did not bury alone. She was found with other three skeletons deep inside the underwater cave below sea level (15 meter) off Tulum. Experts presumed that during the time she lived, the water level was 60 meter lower and the Yucatan Peninsula was a dryer prairie.

Their remains were found along with giant sloths, elephants and ancient fauna. Archaeologist believed the polar ice melting has caused the sea level rising and the stalactites and stalagmite grew inside the cave have somehow help preserved the remains.

It is delighted news for archaeologist. If the carbon 14 result is accurate, archaeologist believes it might change the time line of the first settlement in America.

Besides Eva, there is another remain with fully preserved teeth. They named him Chan hol and believe he was older than Eva. With the ongoing excavation, archaeologist will try to figure out his diet.

I am certain this will be another extraordinary discovery in archaeology of how human arrived in other continents during the last ice age. Personally I can’t wait for more news about this discovery.
