What is a haploid cell?

A cell contains one set of chromosomes is called haploid cells.  Haploid cells in humans and other mammals are primarily sex cells (sperm and eggs) produced by a process called meiosis.  When the egg is fertilized by a sperm, resulting in a diploid cell. 

A cell divides into two halves, giving rise to two daughter cells.  This process is only in eukaryotic cells and is the only part of the life cycle of a cell that is sexual reproduction.  It helps to combine genes from their parents, without increasing the number of chromosomes.  In the reproductive organs of higher animals like humans, the gonads, ie the testes and ovaries parts to form gametes by meiosis.
The core of the cell divides twice in meiosis and produces four daughter cells.  In diploid organisms, meiosis occurs in the formation of sex cells (sperm and eggs).  These gametes are haploid cells, containing a single set of chromosomes.  These gametes unite during fertilization, which helps to restore the diploid number.

When it comes to plants, meiosis occurs before the formation of spores and the spores are haploid number of chromosomes.  When haploid tracks reached the ovary, leading to offspring by sexual reproduction.  Meiosis is important because it helps to mix the gene and lead to variations of better offspring.  The haploid cells combine to form a diploid cell with genes different from their parents.  Therefore, the offspring are genetically more advanced than their parents.

The number of haploid cells in humans is a set of 23 chromosomes, of which there are 22 pairs of autosomes or sex, and a set of sex chromosomes.  After fertilization of haploid cells in humans, giving rise to diploid cells with 46 chromosomes.  These 46 chromosomes are formed by combining two sets of 23 chromosomes in stem cells.

There was little information about the haploid cells.  The cells are typically haploid germ cells of an organism.  The body of the whole plant contains haploid cells that gives you the advantage of improved genetics.  These plants tend to be pure genetic lines.  In all animals, including humans, eggs and sperm are haploid cells only.
