Good News for Vegetarians: Scientists Have Developed a “Tube Hamburger”
The scientists created the burgers through muscle fibers developed from stem cells of cows.
Anyone who does not eat meat for reasons of conscience will be able to bite into a juicy patty in October and have no feelings of guilt. Dutch scientists have developed the world’s first “tube hamburger” using stem cells from muscle fibers of cows.

Scientists believe that cattle which grows in factories, instead of farms, will be a better food source and the process will be less harmful to the environment. Maastricht University scientists, led by Professor Mark Post, developed muscle fibers from cows stem cells, and grew and stretched them in culture dishes.
The cells were fed with protein and other food supplements, counterparts from grass used to feed cattle. Now the meat’s color is yellow – pale pink, not red as raw meat, because it does not contain blood, but Professor Post said that they will improve the appearance of the meat until October.
To get fat, essential for real burgers, Thai scientists also grew fat in the laboratory. Although the project will be ready in October, no tube burger is expected to reach stores in the near future. “We started this project six years ago and I expect it would be another 10 or 20 years until we can produce our meat in mass production” said a Professor Post at the American Association scientific innovations in Vancouver, which introduced the project.

Nice. Lets hope they will start a mass production soon. It might make meat cheaper & save the endangerment.

I’ve heard of this before. Sounds intriguing for a veggie like me. But you know, I don’t even like the taste of burgers – so it’s a no go for me.
Gotta say, this is such a well-researched and well-written article.

Huge waste of human endeavor, no room for this in our lives. Unnecessary and incredibly weird and wrong. Eat food, just food, people, it is easy.

Will be good for people who want the taste of meat without worrying about where it came from.

Can’t see much point in it if I’m fair…if you’re veggie then just don’t eat meat point blank!
