Eight Species of Weird Animals You Don’t Want to See

There seems to be weird feeling towards these animals. Still, these strange animals have been there for years. They are weird, cool and strange animals, yet they are also the most interesting animals to know as you might have not known of their existence.

Wolf fish

Appearing like an eel, a wolf fish is found mostly in the northern waters of both Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. By fossil discovery, its existence was dated back to 50 million years ago. Wolf fish have long bodies, a large mouth filled with sharp teeth and a fat head, and thus its appearance is somewhat scary and weird. Unlike other fish, a wolf fish does not have scales.

The Gharial

The Gharial is well-known for its extremely elongated snout and needle-like teeth. But its short stumpy legs cause it to appear somewhat awkward out of water. The Gharial lives in Himalayan-fed river system (such as Ganges, Indus). Even though it prefers to feed on fish, it also feeds on frogs, snakes, shrimps, small mammals, crabs, and birds.

The Spicebush Swallowtail Caterpillar

The Spicebush Swallowtail is a caterpillar for a fairly black swallowtail butterfly. This caterpillar lives in folded leaf shelters and feeds on sassafras or spicebush leaves to sustain its life.

The Camel Spider

A camel spider is an amazing animal. It is a solpugid but not really a spider. It can grow to a length of 6 inches even though there is a myth saying that it can grow as large as a dinner plate. It feeds primarily on termites, small lizards, spiders, small rodents and insects so it is a carnivorous creature. Interestingly, it can run at a speed of over 10 miles within 60 minutes.

The Sun Spider

The sun spider (also known as wind scorpion) has a pair of gigantic pincers in addition to sticky arms that help it hold prey while eating it. It uses its last pair of legs for walking. At a time, the female sun spider can lay about 50 eggs. The sun spider’s appearance looks fierce, yet it is harmless to humans.

The Mouse Spider

There are 11 known species of mouse spiders distributed widely across mainland Australia and are found mostly in both drier and costal habitats. The males are smaller, in contrast to the females which can grow up to 3 cm in length. Mouse spiders are either dark brown or black with thick legs. The males have an elongated longer legs and long palps appearing as an extra pair of legs.

The Giant Grenadier

The giant grenadier is a deep-water creature found dwelling at the depths of 200-2150 meters in both the Bearing Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. It is a very large rattail characterized with distinctive features of an elongated pointed tail and can grow up to 2.1m in length.

The Whip Scorpion

Found in areas with sub-tropical and tropical climates, the whip scorpion is an arachnid species. In facts, it resembles a scorpion and owns a whip-like tail. It spends most of the time in the underground burrow, as it prefers to stay in a humid and dark damp area and dislikes direct sunlight.
