As the Daily Telegraph reported that scientists at the Medical University of Vienna have compared suicide rates in different regions in Austria with the lithium concentrations in drinking water.
Overall, the lithium concentrations in 99 regions in Austria was measured. In the ten areas in which the lithium concentrations in drinking water was lowest, took 16 out of 100,000 people, in which the highest concentration of only 11
Scientists now believe that a higher content of lithium can reduce the suicide rate. The results of the study were published in the British Journal of Pyschiatry.
