International convention for the protection of the ozone layer in the atmosphere held in Nusa Dua Bali Conference Center, Bali.

Activities that involve representatives of 196 countries that ratified the Vienna Convention and Montreal Protocol was started on Monday (11/21/2011) and lasted until Friday (11/25/2011) later.

“At this conference, it wants to achieve reduction efforts is the use of ozone depleting substances. A total of 7 billion inhabitants of Planet Earth will depend on ozone protection efforts,” said Executive Secretary of the Ozone Secretariat at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Marco Gonzalez in a speech opening the event.

Environment Minister Balthasar Kambuaya attend open agenda that combines the two meetings, the Conference of the Parties to the Vienna Convention and the 9th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol to 23.

Kambuaya say, the protection of the ozone layer as well as the protection of human health tehadap. The ozone layer is thinning or perforations resulting ultraviolet rays do not have filtration. “Ultraviolet rays can cause cataracts and skin cancer,” said Kambuaya.
